Sir Gerald Hanson, 2nd Baronet
Sir Gerald Stanhope Hanson, 2nd Baronet (23 April 1867 – 18 January 1946) was a British soldier and landowner. Hanson was the son of former Lord Mayor of London, Sir Reginald Hanson. Educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge, he was a British Army captain before choosing life as a country gentleman. He succeeded to the baronetcy on 18 April 1905, on the death of his father. Sir Gerald had a brother, Francis Stanhope Hanson, Sir Francis Stanhope Hanson, who was a well known London merchant, and was created a Knight Bachelor in his own right in 1908.See ''History of the Lodge of Assistance, 1899-2002'', London, 2002, page 13. There were also two sisters. Sir Gerald died on 18 January 1946, aged 78, and was succeeded by his son, Sir Richard Hanson, 3rd Baronet, Sir Richard Leslie Reginald Hanson, 3rd Baronet. Sir Richard Hanson, like his uncle Sir Francis Hanson, was a member of the Lodge of Assistance No 2773 of English Freemasonry. References

Reginald Hanson
Sir Reginald Hanson, 1st Baronet, JP, DL, FSA (31 May 1840 – 18 April 1905) was Lord Mayor of London and a British Conservative Party politician. The son of Samuel and Mary Hanson (née Choppin), Reginald was educated at Tonbridge School, Rugby School and Trinity College, Cambridge ( MA, LLD). The then headmaster of Rugby School Dr Frederick Temple (later Archbishop of Canterbury) said of Hanson on his departure, "I have a most sincere and warm regard for him. The manly desire he shows to get rid of his faults, and to do his duty, will always deserve the respect of all who know him. There are a few from who I part with so much regret at my own loss". Indeed, this sense of duty was upheld and he held numerous positions of public office. Following graduation, the young Reginald joined the Commercial Union Assurance Company (now part of Aviva plc) which was previously co-founded by his father Samuel.
