Sinéad Mulvey
Sinéad Mulvey (born 22 January 1988) is an Irish professional singer & air hostess who, alongside Black Daisy, represented her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the pop-rock song "Et Cetera". The song was performed in the second semi-final but missed out on qualification to the grand final. Mulvey appeared on ''You're a Star'' prior to Eurovision 2009, but missed out on the final. Black Daisy
Black Daisy was an Irish- Lithuanian band that, along with Sinéad Mulvey represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song Et Cetera. Biography The band originated from Dublin, and was formed by Steff Caffrey (lead guitar and backing vocals), Nicole Billings (rhythm guitar and backing vocals), Asta Millerienė (drums), and Lesley-Ann Halvey (lead vocals and bass guitar). Steff Caffrey was asked to leave the band in February 2009 as RTÉ, the Irish national Broadcaster, felt that a 4 piece backing band was too large for the Eurovision stage. It's For You (Niamh Kavanagh Song)
Ireland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "It's for You" written by Niall Mooney, Mårten Eriksson, Jonas Gladnikoff and Lina Eriksson. The song was performed by Niamh Kavanagh, who had previously represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 where she won the contest with the song "In Your Eyes". The Irish broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) organised the national final ''Eurosong 2010'' in order to select the Irish entry for the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway. Five songs faced the votes of six regional juries and a public televote, ultimately resulting in the selection of "It's for You" performed by Niamh Kavanagh as the Irish Eurovision entry. Niamh Kavanagh ( ; born 13 February 1968) is an Irish singer who sang the winning entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993. The 1993 Eurovision Song Contest was held in Millstreet, County Cork, Republic of Ireland. She sang "In Your Eyes" to clinch a second consecutive win for Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest. The singer represented Ireland again in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo, with the song "It's for You". She performed at the semi-final on 27 May 2010, finishing 9th in a field of 17 contestants, thus qualifying for the Grand Final on 29 May 2010. In the final, she finished 23rd in a field of 25 contestants, having received 25 points. "Irelande Douze Pointe" () is a 2008 novelty song by Irish puppet act Dustin the Turkey, played by John Morrison. The song was chosen to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 after winning ''Eurosong 2008'', Ireland's national final for that year's Eurovision Song Contest. The song was performed in the first semi-final of the contest, held on 20 May 2008, and placed 15th with 22 points, failing to qualify for the final. Reception was mixed, with it peaking at number 5 on the Irish Singles Chart. Background Despite the pseudo- French song title, the lyrics of the song are mainly in English. Dustin the Turkey, a character performed by John Morrison is a former star of RTÉ television's '' The Den'' between 1989 and 2010 and from 2020. He has been described as "the most subversive comedy force on Irish television". A turkey-vulture with a strong Dublin accent hailing from Sallynoggin, Dustin first appeared on ''The Den'' with Zig and Zag in December 1989, but remained there after their 1993 departure to Channel 4. He also outlasted four human co-hosts, all of whom moved to radio, Ian Dempsey, Ray D'Arcy, Damien McCaul and Francis Boylan Jr. Dustin has also had a successful music career with chart-topping singles in his native land.
