Si Lom Road (also written as Silom, th, สีลม, ) is a major street in the Thai capital Bangkok, best known for its commercial neighbourhood, which, along with the nearby and roughly parallel Sathon Road, forms one of the city's main business districts. It runs in a southwest–northeast direction between Charoen Krung and Rama IV roads in the city's Bang Rak District, forming the boundary between Suriyawong Subdistrict to its north and Si Lom Subdistrict to its south. Patpong
Patpong ( th, พัฒน์พงศ์, , ) is an entertainment district in Bangkok's Bang Rak District, Thailand, catering mainly, though not exclusively, to foreign tourists and expatriates. While Patpong is internationally known as a red light district at the heart of Bangkok's sex industry, it is in fact only one of several red-light districts with some catering primarily to Thai men while others, like Patpong, cater primarily to foreigners. A busy night market aimed at tourists is also located in Patpong. Bangkok Christian Hospital
The Bangkok Christian Hospital ( th, โรงพยาบาลกรุงเทพคริสเตียน) is one of the oldest general hospitals in Bangkok, Thailand. Situated on Silom Road, Bang Rak District. History The first Christian missionaries arriving in Thailand in 19th century often combined preaching with medical help for local population. They considered medical healing as part of their mission, as Jesus had commanded them to "Heal the Sick". In 1840 the Presbyterian Mission was established in Bangkok and expanded its offices over the country for evangelism together with the healing mission. Initially, clinics were set up which gradually developed into better equipped hospitals. Lerdsin Hospital () is a hospital located in Bang Rak District, Bangkok, Thailand. It is a main teaching hospital for the College of Medicine, Rangsit University. It is an affiliated teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University and the Faculty of Medicine, Srinakharinwirot University. History The earliest records of the hospital can be traced to the presence of Bang Rak Hospital at the junction of Silom and Charoen Krung Roads, run by American doctor Thomas Heyward Hays. Hays was instrumental in laying the foundations of Western medicine in Thailand and was also the first director of Siriraj Hospital and the first lecturer of Western medicine in Thailand at the Bhatayakorn School. Ganesh
Ganesha ( sa, गणेश, ), also known as Ganapati, Vinayaka, and Pillaiyar, is one of the best-known and most worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon and is the Supreme God in Ganapatya sect. Modak
Modak ( Marathi: मोदक; Japanese: 歓喜団; Thai: โมทกะ or ขนมต้ม; Malaysian: Kuih modak; Indonesian: Kue modak; Burmese: မုန့်လုံးရေပေါ်), also referred to as Koḻukattai (கொழுக்கட்டை) in Tamil, is an Indian sweet dumpling dish popular in many Indian states and cultures. According to Hindu and Buddhist beliefs, it is considered one of the favourite dishes of Lord Ganesha and the Buddha and is therefore used in prayers. Navaratri is an annual Hindu festival observed in the honour of the goddess Durga. It spans over nine nights (and ten days), first in the month of Chaitra (March/April of the Gregorian calendar), and again in the month of Sharada. Surasena Alley or Soi Surasena ( th, ซอยสุรเสนา), or officially known as Soi Si Lom 5 (), and commonly known as Soi Lalai Sap (, ; ) is a side-street (''soi'') branching off Si Lom Road in the Bang Rak District of Bangkok, Thailand.
