Silivrikapi Ice Skating Hall, full name Silivrikapi Skating Hall and Recreation Center, shortly Silivrikapı Ice Rink, ( tr, Silivrikapı Buz Pateni Salonu), is an indoor ice skating and ice hockey arena located at Silivrikapı neighborhood of Fatih district in Istanbul, Turkey. It was opened in September 2009. The arena consists of an Olympic-size rink of with a seating capacity of 900 people, and another one of for 200 spectators used as training rink. Covering an area of , the construction of the complex cost 30 million (approx. US$20 million). Abdi İpekçi Arena, formerly known as Abdi İpekçi Sports Complex, was a multi-purpose indoor arena located in the Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul, Turkey, situated just outside the ancient city walls, in Yedikule. History Designed in 1979, and opened on 3 June 1989, after several years of interrupted construction, it was named after the renowned Turkish journalist Abdi İpekçi. It was the primary basketball venue in Istanbul for two decades and hosted many (mostly the international) games of Istanbul's four top basketball clubs Anandolu Efes, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and Besiktas, as well as many other sports events and concerts. Silivri, formerly Selymbria (Greek: Σηλυμβρία), is a city and a district in Istanbul Province along the Sea of Marmara in Turkey, outside the urban core of Istanbul, containing many holiday and weekend homes for residents of the city. The 2016 IIHF World Championship Division III was an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Galleria Ice Rink ( tr, Galleria Buz Pisti) is an indoor ice skating and ice hockey rink located within the Galleria Ataköy shopping center located in Bakırköy district of Istanbul, Turkey. It was opened in 1989. The rink is run by the company "Galleria Buz Pateni Pisti", a subsidiary of the shopping mall. The venue hosts all kinds of ice sports events in Istanbul including Turkish ice hockey leagues for men's, women's and junior's. It is home to the ice hockey club Istanbul Paten Kulübü. By April 2010, the director general of the Galleria shopping mall announced that the ice rink will be closed to make space for additional recreational places and new stores within the renovation project of the shopping mall.
