Siggerud
Siggerud is a village in the municipality of Ski, Norway, just a few kilometres away from the border of the municipality of Oslo where most of Siggerud's population work. Its population (2005) is 1,353, but probably over 2000 if you count the area around. Siggerud is a small place, but has recently hosted a number of celebrities, some of which are known outside Norway. The most famous is probably Lasse Kjus who won the alpine World Cup twice. Fredric Aasbø (born 18 August 1985) is a professional drifter and stunt driver originally from Siggerud, Norway. He currently competes in the Formula Drift Championship. Aasbø is a three-time Formula Drift champion, having won the title in 2015, 2021, and 2022. He also holds claim to the most wins of any driver in series history, with 18 (as of April 2023). He also finished as runner-up in the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 championship chases. Career Aasbø started his career as a privateer racer driving a Toyota Supra. He won the 2007 and 2008 Nordic Drifting Championship titles competing in his native Scandinavia before making his U.S. debut at a global drifting invitational in 2008. Ski, Norway
Ski () is a town and former "kommune" (municipality) in the new municipality (January 1. 2020) Nordre Follo in the greater region Follo, in Viken ''fylke'' (county), Norway. Ski is the most populous and largest town in Follo, and serves as the ''de facto'' municipality center of Nordre Follo municipality. Institutions like the hospital, tingrett (district court), police station, and other regional public services, are located in and around the town of Ski. Etymology The municipality of Ski inherited its name from the town of Ski, upon being instated as a separate municipality, with the town as its administrative centre. The town of Ski is named after a large farm called Skeidi (Old Norse: ''Skeiði''). The word ''skeiði'' is a side form of ''skeið'', meaning "running track for horse racing" - suggesting that there may have been such a track at the farm in medieval times. Akershus
Akershus () is a traditional region and current electoral district in Norway, with Oslo as its main city and traditional capital. It is named after the Akershus Fortress in Oslo. From the middle ages to 1919, Akershus was a fief and main county that included most of Eastern Norway, and from the 17th century until 2020, Akershus also had a more narrow meaning as a (sub) county that included most of the Greater Oslo Region. After 2020 the former county of Akershus was merged into Viken along with the former counties of Østfold and Buskerud. In 2022 the Storting voted to dissolve Viken and reestablish Akershus county. Lasse Kjus
Lasse Kjus (born 14 January 1971) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Norway. He won the overall World Cup title twice, an Olympic gold medal, and several World Championships. His combined career total of 16 Olympic and World Championship medals ranks second all-time behind fellow Norwegian Kjetil André Aamodt. Racing career Born in Oslo, Kjus grew up in Siggerud, but represented the club Bærums SK. In February 1999, Kjus pulled off one of the most remarkable feats in the history of alpine skiing when he medaled in all 5 events at the 1999 World Championships in Vail, Colorado. Trude Mostue
Trude Mostue (born 28 March 1968) is a Norwegian veterinary surgeon and television presenter. She is best known for her appearances in the BBC documentary series ''Vet School'' in 1996, and later in the follow-up series '' Vets in Practice''. She went on to present and co-present a number of television series. After leaving England, Mostue has returned to veterinary practice full-time in Norway. Early life Mostue was born in Oslo, Norway, and grew up in Siggerud. Television career Mostue lived in the United Kingdom for several years, appearing in the BBC television documentary series ''Vet School'' (1996), and later in the follow-up series '' Vets in Practice'' (63 episodes, 1997–2002). A1 (band)
A1 (stylised as a1) is a British- Norwegian boy group formed in 1998. The original line-up consisted of Paul Marazzi, Christian Ingebrigtsen, Mark Read and Ben Adams. Ingebrigtsen is originally from Oslo, Norway, while the other members originate from London. Their debut single, "Be the First to Believe", entered the UK Singles Chart at number six in mid-1999. They achieved chart success in the UK and other parts of the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s, particularly Southeast Asia. In the UK, they scored two number ones and six other top 10 hits, seven of which were written by the band. Adding to this, they also won a BRIT Award for "British Breakthrough Act" in 2001. They were managed by band manager Tim Byrne, who also formed Steps. Marazzi left the band in 2002, citing personal reasons. Christian Ingebrigtsen
Christian Ingebrigtsen (born 25 January 1977) is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and musician. He is a member of the pop group A1. Biography Ingebrigtsen was born in Oslo, Norway, into a musical family. His father Stein Ingebrigtsen was the biggest selling recording artist in Norway in the 1970s. At the age of three, Christian joined his father on tour. He learned to play the violin at six, and later started playing the piano and guitar. At school he concentrated on music and drama, and eventually played the piano at local events and at church. At 16 he started composing his own songs, and as an exchange student in Kentucky in the U.S. he participated in musicals, talent contests and held his own concerts. Oslo
Oslo ( , , or ; sma, Oslove) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of in 2019, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age the area was part of Viken. Oslo was founded as a city at the end of the Viking Age in 1040 under the name Ánslo, and established as a ''kaupstad'' or trading place in 1048 by Harald Hardrada.
