''Shortkut'' (also known as ''Short Kut: The Con Is On'') is a 2009 Indian Hindi-language comedy film directed by Neeraj Vora and produced by Anil Kapoor under Anil Kapoor Films Company. The film stars Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao in lead roles. It released on 10 July 2009 worldwide to mostly negative reviews from critics. The film was an uncredited remake of the Malayalam-language film ''Udayananu Tharam'' starring ''Mohanlal''. Plot The story focuses on Shekhar (Akshaye Khanna), who is currently an assistant director, hoping to write and direct his own movies soon. His friend Raju (Arshad Warsi) is a struggling actor who has been waiting on Shekhar to write a film script so he can star in his movie. However, when Shekhar rejects him as the film's leading role, Raju decides to steal Shekhar's film script, star in the movie himself and release it without crediting Shekhar. Neeraj Vora (22 January 1963 14 December 2017) was an Indian film director, writer, actor and composer from Gujarat. He made a mark in Bollywood with his work as a writer for Ram Gopal Verma's film '' Rangeela'' (1995). His directorial debut was Akshay Kumar starrer '' Khiladi 420'' in 2000 and also directed ''Phir Hera Pheri (2006)''. ''Udayananu Tharam'' () is a 2005 Indian Malayalam-language black comedy satire film directed by Rosshan Andrrews and written by Sreenivasan based on a story he had co-written with the director. Arshad Warsi (born 19 April 1968) is an Indian actor who appears in Hindi films. He is the recipient of several awards including a Filmfare Award from five nominations and is noted for acting in varied film genres. Ashok Mehta
Ashok Mehta (1947 – 15 August 2012) was a noted national film award-winning Indian film cinematographer, known for films such as ''Bandit Queen'' (1994), '' 36 Chowringhee Lane'' (1981) and ''Utsav'' (1984).
