The Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital often shortened to Shoalhaven Hospital (abbreviated SDMH) is a public hospital serving the City of Shoalhaven in New South Wales, Australia. It is located on the banks of the Shoalhaven River from the Nowra, New South Wales, Nowra CBD. The secondary health care facility is the main acute care hospital for the region, serving a population of over 100,000. The hospital is operated by the South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service, Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District In the 2009–2010 financial year, SDMH handled 21,193 hospitalisations. It is also affiliated with the University of Wollongong and University of New South Wales as a teaching hospital. Services A 16-bed Emergency department operates 24 hours. South Eastern Sydney And Illawarra Area Health Service
South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Area Health Service (SESIAHS) was formed in 2005 from the amalgamation of the Illawarra Area Health Service and South Eastern Sydney Area Health Service. It was disbanded on 1 January 2011 as part of the National Health Reform and creation of Local Hospital Networks. It was a statutory body of the New South Wales Government, operating under the NSW Department of Health, charged with the provision of public health services in eastern and southern Sydney, and regions to the south of Sydney.
