Shelly is a city in Norman County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 179 at the 2020 census. History Shelly was platted in 1896, and named for John Shely, an early settler. The spelling of "Shelly" was adopted to distinguish the city from the already existing Shely Township. A post office has been in operation at Shelly since 1896. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. Demographics 2020 census As of the census of 2020, there were 179 people and 56 households in the city. The population density was 852.4 inhabitants per square mile. There were a total of 105 housing units at an average density of 500.0 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was majority white, with six residents reporting being Hispanic or Latino of any race, or 3.3% of the total population. Shelly Kappe (born 1928 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an architectural historian and academic who specializes in the residential history of Los Angeles. She was a founding member of the faculty at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc), an independent school of architecture created in 1972. Education Shelly graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles. She earned a master's degree in Architectural History from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. Work As a writer, Shelly Kappe focused academic attention on the modernist architects working in Los Angeles in the 1940s-1970s through articles in Architecture California and LA Architect magazines. Shelly Willingham
Shelly Willingham (born November 27, 1943) is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives. He has represented the 23rd district (which includes all of Martin and Edgecombe counties) since 2015. He previously served in the House from 2002 to 2003. Political career Willingham was first appointed to the 70th district of the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2002 to succeed Toby Fitch, who stepped down to become a judge. Willingham ran for a full term in the new 24th district (the geographic successor to the 70th district) in 2002, but lost the primary to Jean Farmer-Butterfield who went on to win the general election. Anne Rochelle Steely Ramirez (born October 23, 1962), née Anne Rochelle Steely, is a former long-distance runner who competed internationally for the United States. She specialized in the 3,000 meters on the track and later competed in road running events. She made her international debut in cross country running, cross country and helped the United States the women's team title at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 1985. Her focus changed to the 3,000 meters, a distance in which she was a two-time US champion (outdoors in 1991 and indoors in 1992). She reached the final of that event at the 1991 World Championships in Athletics and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Steely's performances deteriorated and she was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Sheldon Arthur "Shelly" Saltman (August 17, 1931 in Boston – February 16, 2019 in Los Angeles) was a promoter of major sports and entertainment events including the worldwide promotion of the Muhammad Ali / Joe Frazier heavyweight championship boxing matches, creating the Andy Williams San Diego Golf Classic and helped to arrange the independent NFL Players Association games during the 1982 NFL season strike.
