Sergio Melta
Sergio Melta (born 16 March 1954), is a former Australian footballer, who had an extensive career in Australia's National Soccer League, spent entirely with Adelaide City. Playing career Club Melta won the NSL's player of the year award in 1984. International Melta was given his international debut by Frank Arok but ultimately played just once for the Australian national team, a friendly against Czechoslovakia played at Hindmarsh Stadium in his home city of Adelaide in 1986. Melta was substituted off after 57 minutes during the 0–1 loss. Coaching career Melta took over the head coaching role of West Torrens Birkalla in the FFSA Premier League. On 5 February 2013 he was appointed as assistant coach for A-League club Adelaide United. He is the current coach/manager of White City which competes in National Premier Leagues South Australia. Glenelg, South Australia
Glenelg is a beach-side suburb of the South Australian capital of Adelaide. Located on the shore of Holdfast Bay in Gulf St Vincent, it has become a tourist destination due to its beach and many attractions, home to several hotels and dozens of restaurants. Established in 1836, it is the oldest European settlement on mainland South Australia. It was named after Lord Glenelg, a member of British Cabinet and Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. Adelaide City FC
Adelaide City Football Club is a soccer club based in Adelaide, South Australia. The club was known historically as Juventus — the original name given to the club by its founders in Adelaide's Italian community. Adelaide City is one of Australia's most decorated sides, having been crowned national champion three times. City became one of the founding members of the National Soccer League in 1977, Australia's first national competition of any football code. 1984 National Soccer League
The National Soccer League 1984 season was the eighth season of the National Soccer League in Australia. This season saw a restructure of the league, introducing a split into two geographical divisions, and an expansion from 16 to 24 teams. A ''Northern Conference'' comprised 12 clubs from New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory, and a ''Southern Conference'' consisted of 12 Victorian, South Australian, and Queensland clubs. This season also saw the introduction of the two well-supported Croatian clubs, Melbourne Croatia and Sydney Croatia, both of which had had recent success in the state-leagues. For the first time in the competition, a finals system was introduced, whereby the five highest finishing teams in each conference had a playoff to determine a conference winner. The National Soccer League 1981 season was the fifth season of the Australian National Soccer League (NSL). The league was known as the Philips Soccer League (PSL) in a sponsorship arrangement with Dutch electronics company Philips. The champions were Sydney Slickers, winning their third title.
