Seitajärvi
Seitajärvi ( ''seita'': a Sami sacred place + ''järvi'': lake) was a community located in the Savukoski municipality of Finland. In 1940 the Seitajärvi community included five farming and reindeer enterprises. On July 7, 1944, Seitajärvi suffered a devastating attack ( fi) by Soviet partisans. Many families of this community relocated to Kittilä in northwest Lapland and nowadays the Seitajärvi people have no standing settlements. Savukoski ( sme, Suovvaguoika, smn, Suovâkuoškâ, sms, Suõvvkuõškk) is a municipality of Finland. It is located in the province of Lapland, Finland. The municipality has a population of () and covers an area of of which is water. The population density is , which is the lowest in relation to other Finnish municipalities. Neighbour municipalities are Pelkosenniemi, Salla and Sodankylä. The municipality is unilingually Finnish. According to Finnish Folklore, the Korvatunturi Fell in Savukoski municipality is the location of Father Christmas's ( Joulupukki) secret workshop, where toys, trinkets and gifts are made and eventually wrapped by gnomes. The war crimes and crimes against humanity which were perpetrated by the Soviet Union and its armed forces from 1919 to 1991 include acts which were committed by the Red Army (later called the Soviet Army) as well as acts which were committed by the NKVD, including acts which were committed by the NKVD's Internal Troops. Reindeer (in North American English, known as caribou if wild and ''reindeer'' if domesticated) are deer in the genus ''Rangifer''. For the last few decades, reindeer were assigned to one species, ''Rangifer tarandus'', with about 10 subspecies. Soviet partisans were members of resistance movements that fought a guerrilla war against Axis forces during World War II in the Soviet Union, the previously Soviet-occupied territories of interwar Poland in 1941–45 and eastern Finland. The activity emerged after Nazi Germany's Operation Barbarossa was launched from mid-1941 on. It was coordinated and controlled by the Soviet government and modeled on that of the Red Army.
