Seachange (horse)
Seachange (foaled 14 November 2002) is a top New Zealand thoroughbred racehorse. She won a record seven Group I races in New Zealand. Her regular rider in New Zealand was Gavin McKeon. Racing career Seachange began racing in September 2005, as a 3yo, and won her first start at Paeroa by half a length. She won four additional races during that campaign, including the Group I New Zealand 1000 Guineas, and remained undefeated. In July 2006, Seachange won at Waikato. In her next start, second up at Waikato, she suffered her first defeat, being beaten by less than a length by Bulginbaah and Don't Ya Lovett. She continued to Hastings to contest the Hastings Triple Crown and enter a highly anticipated clash with the million-dollar colt Darci Brahma. Seachange won her second Group I, the Mudgway Stakes, with Darci Brahma closing fast for 2nd, a length behind. Kelt Capital Stakes
The Livamol Classic is a Weight-for-age Thoroughbred horse race run at Hastings Racecourse in Hawke's Bay and was at one stage New Zealand's richest horse race. It is run at a distance of 2040m. The race is run in October. The weather in the Hawke's Bay's means the track conditions are usually excellent. The race is the part of the Triple Crown raced at Hastings Racecourse, along with: - the 1400m Tarzino Trophy which was previously known as the Makfi Challenge Stakes or Mudgway Stakes, and - the 1600m Arrowfield Stud Plate which was previously known as the Windsor Park Plate, Stony Bridge Stakes and Horlicks Plate. Darci Brahma (Danehill-Grand Echezeaux; foaled 21 September 2002) is a New Zealand thoroughbred colt foaled in 2002 at Pencarrow Stud near Cambridge in New Zealand. He was auctioned at the New Zealand Bloodstock Ltd Yearling Sales in January 2004 and acquired by a syndicate of ten investors for the sum of NZ$1.1 million. 2004–2005 season Sent to trainer Mark Walker of Te Akau Racing Stables near Matamata for his early education, Darci Brahma quickly established a reputation as a potential star in the making winning his first race (January 2005) on debut, following that up with a strong win in the Listed Ford Fairview Slipper Stakes at Matamata in February and then running 2nd to Mi Jubilee in the Group One Ellerslie Sires Produce Stakes at Ellerslie in March. Zabeel
Zabeel (25 October 1986 – 25 September 2015) was a New Zealand-bred racehorse who predominantly raced in Australia. He was retired to stud and became a champion sire. He is a bay son of Sir Tristram (IRE) from the Nureyev mare Lady Giselle. During his racing career, he won seven races, including the Moonee Valley Stakes in 1989 and the Australian Guineas, the Alister Clark Stakes, and the Craiglee Stakes in 1990. After retiring to stud in 1991, he sired 153 individual stakes winners of 350 stakes races, including Vengeance of Rain, who won the Dubai Sheema Classic and holds the earnings record in Hong Kong. Zabeel has also sired the Australian champions Octagonal and Might And Power, who won 17 Group One races between them, including the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups, two Cox Plates, three runnings of the Mercedes Classic, and the Sydney three-year-old triple crown. Falmouth Stakes
The Falmouth Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to fillies and mares aged three years or older. It is run on the July Course at Newmarket over a distance of 1 mile (1,609 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in July. History The event is named in honour of Evelyn Boscawen, 6th Viscount Falmouth, who was a leading racehorse owner and breeder in the 19th century. The Platinum Jubilee Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race in Great Britain open to horses aged four years or older. Three-year-olds foaled in the Southern Hemisphere are also eligible. Mudgway Stakes
The Tarzino Trophy also known as the Challenge Stakes is a Thoroughbred horse race run at Hastings Racecourse in Hawke's Bay and is New Zealand's first Group One race of the season. It is run over a distance of 1400m in September. The race is the first of the Hawkes Bay Triple Crown events and is followed by: * the 1600m Arrowfield Stud Plate in late September, and * the 2040m Livamol Classic in October. Thoroughbred
The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word ''thoroughbred'' is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed.
