Schuyler Lake is the name of a small hamlet (and census-designated place) in the town of Exeter in Otsego County, New York, United States. It lies at the south end of Canadarago Lake and south of Richfield Springs. It is also known as Kaniatarake, which is a Mohawk name that translates to "on the lake". Schuyler Falls is a town in Clinton County, New York, United States. The population was 5,181 at the 2010 census. The town was named after Peter Schuyler, who bought the mill on the Salmon River from Zephaniah Platt. Schuyler Falls is in the south-central part of the county and is southwest of Plattsburgh. History The area was first settled ''circa'' 1794 by Ezra Turner, who settled near the Salmon River, and built the first sawmill in 1801. The town was formed from the town of Plattsburgh in 1848. Schuylerville () is a village in Saratoga County, New York, United States. The village is located in the northeastern part of the Town of Saratoga, east of Saratoga Springs. The Village of Victory is adjacent to Schuylerville to the southwest and the Hudson River forms the village's eastern border. The population was 1,386 at the 2010 census. The village was incorporated in 1831 and is named after the Schuyler family, a prominent family of Dutch descent in colonial America. Schuylerville was the site of the surrender of the British Army under General John Burgoyne, following the Battles of Saratoga (1777) in the nearby Town of Stillwater. Schuyler Apartments
The Schuyler Apartments are a historic apartment building at 275 South Church Street in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The 13-story concrete, glass, and steel structure was designed by David W. Cecil (1921-2011) and built in 1950. The International style structure, with clean and simple lines, is a fine representative example of post-World War II construction in Spartanburg. Cecil also is known locally for the design of Spartanburg City Hall and the main branch of the Spartanburg Post Office, all three of which were for years considered eyesores. The Schuyler building has found itself placed on the National Historical Register recently in time for the grand reopening of the building. The building formerly housed subsidized families: low-income and elderly residents. Of late it has been refurbished as 'upscale' studios and one bedroom units. Fort Stanwix
Fort Stanwix was a colonial fort whose construction commenced on August 26, 1758, under the direction of British General John Stanwix, at the location of present-day Rome, New York, but was not completed until about 1762. The bastion fort was built to guard a portage known as the Oneida Carry during the French and Indian War. Fort Stanwix National Monument, a reconstructed structure built by the National Park Service, now occupies the site.
