Scarborough Athletic Football Club is an association football club based in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. The club was formed on 25 June 2007 as a phoenix club (sports), phoenix club following the winding up of Scarborough F.C., Scarborough Football Club. After spending their first ten seasons groundsharing at Bridlington Town A.F.C., Bridlington Town, the club moved into a new stadium, Flamingo Land Stadium in Scarborough in July 2017. The club currently play in the National League North. Background A covenant existed on the McCain Stadium that restricted its use only to sporting activities. Scarborough failed to convince the Scarborough (borough), Scarborough Borough Council that its proposals to sell the McCain Stadium to a housing developer would raise enough money to pay off the debts and build a new ground. Jonathan Greening
Jonathan Greening (born 2 January 1979) is an English professional Association football, football coach and former player who is currently the Manager (association football), manager of Scarborough Athletic F.C., Scarborough Athletic of the Northern Premier League. As a player, Greening played as a midfielder. He began his career in 1996 with York City F.C., York City, but moved to Manchester United F.C., Manchester United in 1998, with whom he won the 1998–99 UEFA Champions League as a non-playing Substitute (association football), substitute in the 1999 UEFA Champions League Final, final. However, he failed to make a breakthrough in the Manchester United first team and followed United assistant manager Steve McClaren to Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough in 2001.
