Giovanni Sartori (; 13 May 1924 – 4 April 2017) was an Italian political scientist who specialized in the study of democracy, political parties and comparative politics. Biography Born in Florence in 1924, Sartori graduated in Political and Social Sciences at the University of Florence in 1946. He stayed on at the University of Florence, teaching History of Modern Philosophy and Doctrine of the State starting in 1946. He became a lecturer in Modern Philosophy (1950–56) and in Political Science (1956–63), and subsequently professor of Sociology (1963–66). He studied piano and literature, two activities he loved his whole life. He went to university and graduated with a dissertation in history of music. José Ivo Sartori (born 25 February 1948) is a Brazilian politician. He is a former city councilor and former mayor of Caxias do Sul and belongs to PMDB. He is married to Maria Helena Sartori, with whom he has two sons, Marcos and Carolina. He was the 38th Governor of Rio Grande do Sul from 2015 to 2019. Biography Sartori graduated in Philosophy at the University of Caxias do Sul. He began his political career in 1976 when he was elected alderman in Caxias do Sul. Amleto Sartori (3 November 1915 – 18 February 1962) was an Italian sculptor and poet from Padua most famous for his theater masks. First a sculptor, after the Second World War, Sartori began to fervently study the masks of Commedia dell'Arte which led him to a technique of modeling leather masks on wooden molds. His mask making techniques became famous, and his son Donato (1939 - 2016) later continued the work. Sartori became friends with Jacques Lecoq, who introduced him to the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, where he met Giorgio Strehler and Paolo Grassi. This was a turning point in Sartori's career, and brought him into contact with other artists such as Ferruccio Soleri and Marcello Moretti for the construction of masks for their theater productions.
