Sandymount Railway Station
Sandymount railway station ( ga, Stáisiún Dhumhach Thrá) serves Sandymount and Ballsbridge (including RDS Simmonscourt) in Dublin, Ireland. It has two platforms, both fully accessible via ramps. There is a level crossing as the railway line crosses Sandymount Avenue. The Level Crossing is a MCB-CCTV (Manual Controlled Barrier level crossing). History Sandymount Halt was originally opened in January 1835. The station had several period of closure: from 1841 to 1860; 1862 to 1882; 1901 to 1928 and from 1960. The station was reopened in 1984 with the electrification of Dublin suburban rail services - launched as the DART. The station was also re-opened with a one-off temporary platform for Queen Victoria's first visit to Ireland in 1849 when she and her entourage traveled by special train from Kingstown to Sandymount before continuing by horse carriage to Dublin. Red Line (Luas)
The Red Line () is one of the two lines of Dublin's Luas light rail system. The Red Line runs in an east–west direction through the city centre, north of the River Liffey, before travelling southwest to Tallaght, with a fork to Citywest and Saggart. The Red Line opened on 26 September 2004. History Construction work began in March 2001 on the Tallaght to Connolly line, as well as the Sandyford to St. Stephen's Green section of the second line, with Ansaldo of Italy and MVM of Australia getting the contract to build the system. Lansdowne Road railway station ( ga, Stáisiún Bhóthar Lansdúin) is a railway station in Dublin, Ireland. The station serves the Ballsbridge and Upper Baggot Street areas of Dublin 4. Facilities and services The station has two through platforms, 1 and 2, connected via a subway. Both have separate entrances as there is a level crossing adjacent to the station on Lansdowne Road. There are automated ticket vending machines at both entrances. When there is an event at the stadium, additional entrances are opened to allow for crowd control. All DART services serve the station, as do several South Eastern Commuter (Dublin Connolly to Gorey) services. Greystones
Greystones () is a coastal town and seaside resort in County Wicklow, Ireland. It lies on Ireland's east coast, south of Bray and south of Dublin city centre and has a population of 18,140 (2016). The town is bordered by the Irish Sea to the east, Bray Head to the north and the Wicklow Mountains to the west. It is the second biggest town in County Wicklow (after Bray). The town was named after a half-mile or one-kilometre stretch of grey stones between two beaches on the seafront. The harbour area and Greystones railway station are at the northern and southern ends respectively. Killiney () is an affluent seaside resort and suburb in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland. It lies south of neighbouring Dalkey, east of Ballybrack and Sallynoggin and north of Shankill. The place grew around the 11th century Killiney Church, and became a popular seaside resort in the 19th century. It is part of the Dáil Éireann constituency of Dún Laoghaire. Amenities Killiney Hill Park was opened in 1887 as Victoria Hill, in honour of Queen Victoria's 50 years on the British throne. Shankill () is an outlying suburb of Dublin, Ireland, situated in the administrative area of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. Cherrywood () is a developing suburb of Dublin, Ireland, bordering Cabinteely, Loughlinstown and Rathmichael. It is located to the southeast of the city, in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown. Mountjoy Square
Mountjoy Square () is a Georgian garden square in Dublin, Ireland, on the Northside of the city just under a kilometre from the River Liffey. One of five Georgian squares in Dublin, it was planned and developed in the late 18th century by Luke Gardiner, 1st Viscount Mountjoy. It is surrounded on all sides by terraced, red-brick Georgian houses. Construction of the houses began piecemeal in 1792 and the final property was completed in 1818. Over the centuries, the square has been home to many of Dublin's most prominent people: lawyers, churchmen, politicians, writers and visual artists.
