''Liberty'' was an American weekly, general-interest magazine, originally priced at five cents and subtitled, "A Weekly for Everybody." It was launched in 1924 by McCormick-Patterson, the publisher until 1931, when it was taken over by Bernarr Macfadden until 1941. At one time it was said to be "the second greatest magazine in America," ranking behind ''The Saturday Evening Post'' in circulation. Charles William Fries (September 30, 1928 – April 22, 2021) was an American film and television producer who worked on many TV series, made-for-TV movies, and theatrical films. The Cincinnati, Ohio-born Fries moved to Los Angeles in 1952 and began working for the production and syndication company Ziv Television Programs. He later worked at Screen Gems, Columbia Pictures, and Metromedia. In 1974, he formed Charles Fries Productions, which later became Fries Entertainment, where he produced and/or supervised more than 275 hours of television movies and mini-series. ''Jack of Diamonds'' is a 1967 film directed by Don Taylor filmed in Germany that was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Gamera The Invincible
is a 1965 Japanese ''kaiju'' film directed by Noriaki Yuasa, with special effects by Yonesaburo Tsukiji. Produced and distributed by Daiei Film, it is the first film in the ''Gamera'' franchise and the Shōwa era. The film stars Eiji Funakoshi, Harumi Kiritachi, and Junichiro Yamashita. In the film, authorities deal with the attacks of Gamera, a giant prehistoric turtle unleashed in the Arctic by an atomic bomb. ''Tarzan and the Trappers'' is a 1958 action adventure film featuring Edgar Rice Burroughs' famous jungle hero Tarzan and starring Gordon Scott, Eve Brent, Rickie Sorensen and Lesley Bradley. ''Night Court U.S.A.'' is a dramatized court show that aired weekly on KTLA in Los Angeles, California, beginning April 18, 1958. The ''TV Guide'' listing for the seminal session explained: "This half hour program makes use of both character actors and people off the street to portray those brought into night court." The show eventually switched to using scripted cases, and was extended to an hour. The subject matter of the cases was often whimsical. An example from season 2 was that of a drunk woman who passed out in a park. She claimed that she was merely bird watching. Most defendants entered a plea of guilty "but with an explanation" and then proceeded to throw themselves on the mercy of the court with the unfortunate circumstances leading to their crime.
