Salmon Air
Salmon Air is a commuter airline based in Salmon, Idaho, United States which was established in 1968. History Salmon Air's main hub was located at the Boise Airport (BOI). In addition to scheduled passenger and charter flights, Salmon Air also operated scenic air tour flights over Idaho's Bighorn Crags and Flying B Ranch. The airline was sold to McCall Aviation in 2009. The former owners of Salmon Air went on to found Gem Air in 2014. Salmon Air still operates out of Salmon Air and is still owned by McCall Aviation. Salmon, Idaho
Salmon is a city in Lemhi County, Idaho. The population was 3,112 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Lemhi County. Located in the Lemhi River valley, Salmon is home to the Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural and Education Center, which focuses on Lemhi Shoshone culture, as well as the interaction between Sacagawea and other Shoshone and Lewis and Clark. History The Lewis and Clark Expedition crossed the Continental Divide at Lemhi Pass, to the southeast of Salmon. They followed the Salmon River through the present site of the city, then ascended the north fork of the river, at the present-day town named after the confluence, to cross into present-day Montana near Lost Trail Pass. The sole female in the party, Sacagawea, was born in the Lemhi Valley near Salmon. The Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural and Educational Center was opened in Salmon in August 2003. Vernal
Vernal, the county seat and largest city in Uintah County is in northeastern Utah, approximately east of Salt Lake City and west of the Colorado border. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 9,089. The population has since grown to 10,370 as of the 2018 population estimate. History Vernal, unlike most Utah towns, was not settled by Mormon Settlers. Brigham Young sent a scouting party to the area Uintah Basin in 1861 and received word back the area was good for nothing but nomad purposes, hunting grounds for Indians, and "to hold the world together." That same year, President Abraham Lincoln set the area aside as the Uintah Indian Reservation, with Captain Pardon Dodds appointed Indian agent. Dodds later built the first cabin erected by a white man in the Uintah Basin around 1868. Settlers began to filter in after that, and built cabins in various spots on or near Ashley Creek.
