Salmo Obtusirostris Obtusirostris
''Salmo'' is a genus of ray-finned fish from the family (biology), family Salmonidae. The single ''Salmo'' species naturally found in the Atlantic North America is the Atlantic salmon, whereas the salmon and trout of the Pacific basin belong to another genus, ''Oncorhynchus''. The native range, natural distribution of ''Salmo'' also extends to North Africa and to West Asia around the Black Sea basin. The genus, generic name ''Salmo'' derives from the Latin ''salmō'' (salmon). The number of distinct species and subspecies in ''Salmo'' is a debated issue. Atlantic salmon and brown trout are widespread species, while most of the other taxon, taxa are narrowly distributed forms endemism, endemic to single Drainage basin, watersheds. Species The species currently listed in this genus are: * ''Salmo abanticus'' Enrico Tortonese, Tortonese, 1954 (Lake Abant trout) * ''Salmo aestivalis'' Fortunatov, 1926 (Lake Sevan summer trout) * ''Salmo akairos'' Bo Delling, Delling & Ignacio Doadri ...

Miocene
The Miocene ( ) is the first epoch (geology), geological epoch of the Neogene Period and extends from about (Ma). The Miocene was named by Scottish geologist Charles Lyell; the name comes from the Greek words (', "less") and (', "new") and means "less recent" because it has 18% fewer modern marine invertebrates than the Pliocene has. The Miocene is preceded by the Oligocene and is followed by the Pliocene. As Earth went from the Oligocene through the Miocene and into the Pliocene, the climate slowly cooled towards a series of ice ages. The Miocene boundaries are not marked by a single distinct global event but consist rather of regionally defined boundaries between the warmer Oligocene and the cooler Pliocene Epoch. During the Early Miocene, the Arabian Peninsula collided with Eurasia, severing the connection between the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean, and allowing a faunal interchange to occur between Eurasia and Africa, including the dispersal of proboscideans into Eurasia. ...
