The seeds have a musky flavor and are used as a spice in a manner similar to black pepper, and as a flavouring agent that defines , the dominant style of coffee in Senegal. In contemporary Thai politics, ''salim'' ( th, สลิ่ม, ) is a Thai slang referring to people who are sceptics of democracy and supports the military's involvement in politics. Politicist Surachart Bamrungsuk saw ''salim''s as representatives of right wing middle class. The term initially referred to the " multicoloured shirts" as a reference to the colourful Thai dessert ''sarim'' and was considered by some as a pejorative. It later included other people outside the "multicoloured shirts" as well. The term has been used on mainstream media by 2011. In late February 2020, the term gained popularity following the Thai Constitutional Court's order to disband the pro-democracy Future Forward Party. Students, seeing the order as a political abuse, began to use hashtags including the term ''salim'' as their online activism against the ruling. The Salim Group is Indonesia's biggest conglomerate and refers to companies where the Salim family held majority ownership. Selim (horse)
Selim (1802–1825) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse. He was owned by the Prince of Wales, D. Radcliffe and later Arthur Shakespear. After retiring from racing he became a successful stallion and was British Champion sire in 1814. His progeny included Azor, Medora, Sultan and Turquoise. Background Selim was a chestnut colt bred by General Sparrow and foaled in 1802. He was sired by Buzzard, who won the Craven Stakes twice and the Jockey Club Plate. Selim's dam was the bay Alexander mare, a daughter of Alexander. She also produced Castrel, Rubens and Bronze (all of whom for full-siblings to Selim.
