Saint-Eloy (; ) is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France. History In 1521, the monks of the Abbey of Daoulas, fleeing the plague, took refuge in Fresq (former name of the town) and build a chapel there, which stood today as the church of Saint-Eloy. Saint Eligius (also Eloy, Eloi or Loye; french: Éloi; 11 June 588 – 1 December 660 AD) is the patron saint of goldsmiths, other metalworkers, and coin collectors. He is also the patron saint of veterinarians, the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers ( REME), a corps of the British Army, but he is best known for being the patron saint of horses and those who work with them. Eligius was chief counsellor to Dagobert I, Merovingian king of France. Appointed the bishop of Noyon-Tournai three years after the king's death in 642, Eligius worked for 20 years to convert the pagan population of Flanders to Christianity. Arboretum Du Cranou
The Arboretum du Cranou (14 hectares) is an arboretum located within the ''Forêt du Cranou'' (600 hectares) in Saint-Eloy, Finistère, Brittany, France. It is open daily without charge. The arboretum was created in 1970 by the ''Office national des forêts'' (ONF) and the '' Institut national de recherché agronomique'' (INRA) for reforestation studies. As such, it contained experimental plantings of a limited number of species, each represented by many subjects, including 51 species of hardwoods and conifers such as Sitka spruce, larch, and cryptomeria. The arboretum was refreshed in 2006 to add 45 species (100 specimens), with an additional 90 species (250 specimens) planted in 2007, and a plan of reaching 150 species. Parc Naturel Régional D'Armorique
The Parc naturel régional d'Armorique ( br, Park an Arvorig), or Armorica Regional Natural Park, is a rural protected area located in Brittany. The park land reaches from the Atlantic Ocean to hilly inland countryside. There are sandy beaches, swamps, strange rocks, fast rivers and the hills of Monts d'Arrée, all blended into one landscape. The park also includes three islands: Île de Sein, Molène and Ouessant. The wildlife of the park is diverse and interesting to naturalists.
