Saddleworth Rangers
Saddleworth Rangers are an amateur Rugby League side, formed in 1930, based at Shaw Hall Bank Road, Greenfield, Greater Manchester in the Saddleworth district of Oldham. The club has teams at a number of levels from junior to the first team, which competes in the National Conference League Division One. In 1993 they won the National Conference League Premier Division.. The club's ground, which has hosted Rugby League for over 60 years, features a small covered stand and a new clubhouse which was opened in 2016, fundraising included a world record attempt at a continuous game of touch rugby. The Clubhouse was named in honour of stalwart Terry Flanagan MBE, in a ceremony attended by the then Rugby League Chief Executive Nigel Woods and Chief Operating Office Ralph Rimmer. Mark Flanagan (rugby League)
Mark Flanagan (born 4 December 1987) is an English former professional rugby league footballer who played as a or forward in the Super League and the NRL, and the England Knights at international level. He played for the Wigan Warriors, St Helens and the Salford Red Devils in the Super League. He won the 2014 Super League Grand Final with Saints, and spent time on loan from the club at the Rochdale Hornets in the Championship. Saddleworth is a civil parish of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham in Greater Manchester, England. The British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA) is an association for social and recreational rugby league. It works jointly with the Rugby Football League through the RFL Community Board. History BARLA was created in 1973 in Huddersfield at the George Hotel by a group of enthusiasts concerned about the dramatic disappearance of many amateur leagues and clubs. Fewer than 150 amateur teams remained with a mere thirty youth rugby league teams. The 'breakaway' from the RFL was acrimonious and was strongly contested with a vote 29–1 against recognising BARLA. George Thomas Ford (born 16 March 1993) is an English professional rugby union player who plays at fly-half for Sale Sharks and England. Ford made his debut for Leicester in 2009 and between 2013–2017 played for Bath, before re-joining Leicester, until 2021 when he signed for Sale Sharks for the 2022/23 Premiership season.
