Sachsenliga
The Sachsenliga, formerly referred to as ''Landesliga Sachsen'', is the sixth tier of the German football league system and the highest league in the German state of Saxony (German: ''Sachsen''). Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fifth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the fourth tier. Overview The ''Landesliga Sachsen'' was established in 1990 from twelve clubs as the highest league for the German state of Saxony, which was established after the league in October 1990, and the Saxon Football Association, SFV (German:''Sächsischer Fußball Verband''). It compromised the area of the three Bezirksligen of Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig. Each of those three leagues contributed four clubs to the new league. BSG Stahl Riesa
BSG Stahl Riesa is a German association football club from Riesa in Saxony. History The club was founded as ''SC Riesa'' in 1903 in the cellar of the local pub "Bodega" and was renamed ''Riesaer SV'' two years later. In 1917, they fused with ''FC Wettin'' and went on to play quietly as a local club until 1936 when they advanced to the Gauliga Sachsen, one of sixteen divisions in the top flight of German football during the Third Reich. After World War II the club was dissolved and replaced by the ''SG Riesa'' in late 1945. Three years later the club developed an affiliation with the local steelworkers and came to be known as ''BSG Stahl Riesa''. FC Oberlausitz Neugersdorf
FC Oberlausitz Neugersdorf is a German association football club from the town of Ebersbach-Neugersdorf in the Upper Lusatia (German:''Oberlausitz'') region of Saxony. The club's greatest success came in 2014–15 when it won promotion to the Regionalliga Nordost, one of the five regional leagues making up the fourth tier of German club football. NOFV-Oberliga Süd
The NOFV-Oberliga Süd is the fifth tier of the German football league system in the southern states of the former East Germany. It covers the German states of Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, Saxony and southern Brandenburg. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fourth tier of the league system, and until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the third tier. German Football League System
The German football league system, or league pyramid, refers to the hierarchically interconnected league system for association football in Germany that in the 2016–17 season consisted of 2,235 leagues in up to 13 levels having 31,645 teams, in which all divisions are bound together by the principle of promotion and relegation. The top three professional levels contain one division each. Below this, the semi-professional and amateur levels have progressively more parallel divisions, which each cover progressively smaller geographic areas. Teams that finish at the top of their division at the end of each season can rise higher in the pyramid, while those that finish at the bottom find themselves sinking further down. Therefore, in theory, it is possible for even the lowest local amateur club to rise to the top of the system and become German football champions one day. Landesliga
The Landesliga ( en, Football State League) is a tier of football in some states of the German football league system. In Bavaria, Saxony, Thuringia, Bremen, Lower Saxony and Hamburg, the Landesligas are set right below the Oberliga and therefore are the sixth tier. The reason for this is that Bavaria, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, and Bremen are the only places in Germany where the Oberliga, the State, and the Verband are geographically the same, while the other two states simply chose to call their leagues ''Landesligas'' when establishing them in 1990. In the Middle Rhine and Lower Rhine regions of North Rhine-Westphalia it is also, since 2012, the sixth tier. FSV Budissa Bautzen
The Fußballspielvereinigung Budissa Bautzen is a German association football club from Bautzen, Saxony. Founded as ''Fußballclub Budissa Bautzen'' on 24 May 1904, the club participated in East German football after World War II. History ''FC'' played in the VMBV (Verband Mitteldeutscher Ballspielvereine or Central German Federation of Ballsport Teams), one of the country's early regional leagues. They were renamed ''Sportverein Budissa 04'' in 1907 and went on to claim several local championships in the Gau Oberlausitz in the 1910s and again in the early 1930s. NOFV-Oberliga
The NOFV- Oberliga is a division at step 5 of the German football league system. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, it became the successor of the DDR-Oberliga, and functions today as a 5th division in the former territory of East Germany and the city of Berlin. This league is named after the Nordostdeutscher Fußballverband (NOFV: North-East German Football Association), the regional association of the DFB in the former East German territories. SC Borea Dresden are a German association football club from the city of Dresden, Saxony. The club dropped the name ''FV Dresden-Nord'' on 1 July 2007 and adopted its current name to help encourage new sponsorship support. Boreas is the Greek god of the North Wind. The Bezirksliga ( en, County League) is commonly a medium set of amateur divisions set at steps 7, 8 or 9 in the German football league system. Structure Depending on the structural organisation within each of the 21 state football associations of the German Football Association, the Bezirksliga either falls under the state association's jurisdiction or one of its subsidiary county football associations that organise their divisions mostly following the borders of the corresponding government districts.
