SRO GT2
SRO GT2 is a class of Grand tourer racing cars aimed at gentleman drivers and maintained by the SRO Motorsports Group. Despite the name, this class slots between Group GT4 and Group GT3 in terms of performance. The class also shouldn’t be confused with the Group GT2 from the early 2000s. The class uses a Balance of performance to allow for close competition between competitors. History The new GT2 category was announced by the SRO in 2018. It was created as the GT3 category became more focussed on downforce and also harder to drive for amateur drivers. The GT2 cars would mainly focus on having a powerful engine with 640-700hp, which would be more powerful than a 560hp GT3 engine, while having low downforce more similar to the GT4 category. The first GT2 race was a Porsche single-make event at the 2019 24 Hours of Spa, fielding the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport alongside a few Porsche 935s. Grand Tourer
A grand tourer (GT) is a type of car that is designed for high speed and long-distance driving, due to a combination of performance and luxury attributes. The most common format is a Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, front-engine, rear-wheel-drive two-door coupé with either a two-seat or a 2+2 (car body style), 2+2 arrangement. Grand tourers are most often the coupé derivative of Luxury vehicle, luxury saloon (car), saloons or sedans. The term is a near-calque from the Italian language phrase ''gran turismo'' which became popular in the English language from the 1950s, evolving from fast touring cars and Streamliner, streamlined closed sports cars during the 1930s. Maserati MC20
The Maserati MC20 (''Maserati Corse 2020'', internal code M240) is a two-seater, mid-engined sports car produced by Italian car manufacturer Maserati. MC20 was originally scheduled to debut in May 2020. Maserati announced a racing variant to be also offered. The Maserati Innovation Lab was responsible for the development of the new car and an electric option will also be produced. Maserati is also testing a fully electric powertrain. Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie
The is a 150,000 person capacity motorsports complex located in the town of Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It features a Grand Prix race track built in 1984, and a long "North loop" track, built in the 1920s, around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel mountains. 24H Series
The 24H Series is a sports car racing and touring car racing series developed by Creventic and with approval from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It features GT3-spec cars, GT4-spec cars, sports cars, touring cars and 24H-Specials, like silhouette cars. The calendar consists only of 24-hour and 12-hour races. 2015 was the first season with drivers battling for championship points and titles. It also marked the first season with official FIA International Series’ status. Creventic Dutch agency Creventic is the organiser and promoter of the series. GT Sports Club America
The 2020 GT Sports Club America is the inaugural season of the SRO Motorsports Group's GT Sports Club America, an auto racing series for grand tourer cars. GT Sports Club America is a championship for Bronze, Titanium and Iron drivers only. The Titanium categorisation is within the Bronze category, for drivers between the age of 50 and 59. The Iron categorisation is within the Bronze category, for drivers over the age of 60. The races are contested with GT2-spec and GT3-spec cars. The season began on 11 July at Virginia and will end on 3 October at Indianapolis. GT America Series
The GT America Series is a sports car racing series based in the United States which runs as a support series to the GT World Challenge America. It is managed by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation and sanctioned by the United States Auto Club. History The series was announced in October 2020, replacing the GT Sports Club America and the Sprint category of the GT4 America Series. The first race was run on March 6, 2021 and was won by George Kurtz. At the end of the opening season, Charlie Luck was crowned the inaugural overall champion, while Jason Bell won the GT4 class championship. Brabham BT62
The Brabham BT62 is a mid-engine track-day car produced by Australian car manufacturer Brabham Automotive. It was introduced in 2018 with deliveries expected to start at the end of that year. A planned production of only 70 cars is intended, in honour of the company's 70 year heritage in racing.
