SIGDA, Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Design Automation , is a professional development organization for the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) community. SIGDA is organized and operated exclusively for educational, scientific, and technical purposes in electronic design automation. SIGDA's bylaws were approved in 1969, following the charter of SIC (Special Interest Committee) in Design Automation in 1965. The mission of SIGDA and its activities includes collecting and disseminating information in design automation through a newsletter and other publications; organizing sessions at conferences sponsored by ACM; sponsoring conferences, symposia, and workshops; organizing projects and working groups for education, research, and development; serving as a source of technical information for the Council and subunits of the ACM; and representing the opinions and expertise of the membership on matters of technical interest to SIGDA or ACM. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) is a US-based international learned society for computing. It was founded in 1947 and is the world's largest scientific and educational computing society. Electronic design automation (EDA), also referred to as electronic computer-aided design (ECAD), is a category of software tools for designing electronic systems such as integrated circuits and printed circuit boards. Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computers (or ) to aid in the creation, modification, analysis, or optimization of a design. This software is used to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and to create a database for manufacturing. Xiaobo Sharon Hu
Xiaobo Sharon Hu is a Chinese-American computer scientist and engineer known for her work on hardware-software integration, power usage, and reliability of embedded systems design, including work on power- and temperature-aware scheduling algorithms. She has also published highly cited work on deep neural networks, the CORDIC algorithm for trigonometric calculations, and clocking of unconventional computer architectures. She is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame. Education and career Hu grew up in China as the daughter of two engineers. She studied engineering at Tianjin University, graduating in 1982. Vijaykrishnan Narayanan
Vijaykrishnan Narayanan is the A. Robert Noll Chair of Computer Science and Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. He has been on the faculty at Penn State since 1998. He is an international expert in computer architecture. His research and teaching interests include computer architecture, embedded and mobile computing systems design, power and reliability aware design, and emerging technologies in computing systems. Naehyuck Chang
Naehyuck Chang is a Professor of electrical engineering at KAIST, Seoul, Korea. Chang obtained his BS, MS, and PhD degrees from the Department of Control and Instrumentation at Seoul National University, of which he later became faculty member and later served as Vice Dean of its College of Engineering. In 2012, Chang was elected as chair of a Special Interest Group within the Association for Computing Machinery. Diana Marculescu
Diana Marculescu is the Department Chair and Motorola Regents Chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering #2 at the University of Texas at Austin. She was formerly the David Edward Schramm Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. She is the first female chair in the department's history. Education and career Marculescu received a degree in computer science from Politehnica University of Bucharest, Romania, in 1991, and a Ph.D. in computer engineering from the University of Southern California in 1998.
