Syracuse Orange Football
The Syracuse Orange football team represents Syracuse University in the sport of American football. The Orange compete in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Syracuse is the only Division I FBS school in New York (state), New York to compete in one of the Power Four conferences. The Orange play their home games in the JMA Wireless Dome, referred to as the JMA Dome on the university's campus in Syracuse, New York. The stadium is also known as "The Loud House." John Wildhack
John Wildhack (born October 23, 1958) is the 11th Athletic director, director of athletics at Syracuse University. Prior to this position, Wildhack was the executive vice president for programming and production at ESPN, where he had worked for 36 years. Career ESPN Wildhack career at ESPN spanned 36 years, in which he held a number of leadership roles. He started at ESPN in 1980 as a production assistant and steadily rose through the ranks to become the executive vice president for programming and production in 2014. In his role as executive vice president, Wildhack was responsible for 50,000 hours of content annually and reported directly to ESPN President John Skipper. Wildhack was in charge of all production efforts at ESPN, in addition to content acquisitions and scheduling. Otto The Orange
Otto the Orange is the mascot for the Syracuse Orange, the athletic teams of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, USA. Otto is an anthropomorphism of the color orange, wearing a large blue hat and blue pants. Otto can often be seen at Syracuse sporting events in the JMA Wireless Dome, at other venues and regularly across the university's campus. One of the earliest mascots, recorded in 1894, was a dog with a football helmet. The Colgate–Syracuse football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Colgate Raiders and Syracuse Orange. The two schools are located 38 miles apart from each other in Central New York. The Penn State–Syracuse football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Penn State Nittany Lions and Syracuse Orange. Penn State leads the series 43–23–5. History The rivalry started in 1922, when Syracuse fought Penn State to a 0–0 tie. But it was during the 1950s and 1960s that the rivalry intensified, as it enjoyed a competitive and very controversial string of contests. The Syracuse–West Virginia football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Syracuse Orange football team of Syracuse University and West Virginia Mountaineers football team of West Virginia University. The Pittsburgh–Syracuse football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the Pittsburgh Panthers and Syracuse Orange. It began in 1916 and has been played every year since 1955.
