Sydney Kolodziej
Sydney Kolodziej (born August 18, 1993) is an American pair skater. Representing Canada with Maxime Deschamps, she has competed at the Four Continents Championships, placing 9th in 2018, and on the Grand Prix series, at the 2017 Skate Canada International. Career Early years Kolodziej began learning to skate in 2000. In 2005, she competed in the juvenile girls group at the Upper Great Lakes Regionals in Duluth, Minnesota and placed 1st overall. She furthered at the regionals in the ladies’ category, winning bronze and finished 5th at Midwestern Sectionals in the 2007–2008 and 2008–2009 seasons. She was a member of the Broadmoor Skating Club. Partnership with Deschamps In 2016, Kolodziej teamed up with Maxime Deschamps to compete in pair skating for Canada. Elk Grove Village, Illinois
Elk Grove Village is a village in Cook and DuPage counties in the U.S. state of Illinois. Per the 2020 census, the population was 32,812. Located northwest of Chicago along the Golden Corridor, the Village of Elk Grove Village was incorporated on July 17, 1956. It is directly adjacent to O'Hare International Airport and is economically important to the Chicago metropolitan area due to its large industrial park, located on the eastern border of the village. 2017 Canadian Figure Skating Championships
The 2017 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships was held January 16–22, 2017 in Ottawa, Ontario. It was organized by Skate Canada and sponsored by Canadian Tire. The event determined the national champions of Canada. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dancing on the senior, junior, and novice levels. Although the official International Skating Union terminology for female skaters in the singles category is ''ladies'', Skate Canada uses ''women'' officially. The results of this competition were among the selection criteria for the 2017 World Championships, the 2017 Four Continents Championships, and the 2017 World Junior Championships. Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner (born 2 October 1951), known as Sting, is an English musician and actor. He was the frontman, songwriter and bassist for new wave rock band The Police from 1977 until their breakup in 1986. Desert Rose (Sting Song)
"Desert Rose" is a song by British musician Sting featuring Cheb Mami from his album ''Brand New Day'' (1999). According to Sting, the lyrics have to do with "lost love and longing". Craig Armstrong (composer)
Craig Armstrong, (born 29 April 1959) is a Scottish composer of modern orchestral music, electronica and film scores. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 1981, and has since written music for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the London Sinfonietta. Armstrong's score for Baz Luhrmann's '' Romeo + Juliet'' earned him a BAFTA for Achievement in Film Music and an Ivor Novello. He would collaborate with Luhrmann again on his next two films, '' Moulin Rouge!'' and '' The Great Gatsby''. Mickey Oliver
Mickey Oliver is an American musician, who was born on the South Side of Chicago. He was instrumental in popularizing house music. As a founding member of the mix show team on Chicago radio station 102.7 WBMX, collectively known as the Hot Mix 5 became the President of the group. The Hot Mix 5 became a leading force in the early Chicago house music scene and the first to air the new sound. The show garnered over 2 million listeners which is a record for a major market radio that stands today. James Bracken
James C. Bracken (May 23, 1909 – February 20, 1972) was an American songwriter and the co-founder and co-owner of Vee-Jay Records with his wife Vivian and her brother, Calvin Carter. Life Bracken was born in Oklahoma and grew up in Kansas City. He was living in Chicago when he met Vivian Carter in 1944. In 1950 they founded Vivian's Record Shop in Gary, Indiana, and three years later decided to start their own record company, which they named Vee-Jay from their initials. As well as producing and releasing records through his label, Bracken also wrote some of the songs recorded. During the 1950s and early 1960s Vee-Jay became a major independent record label with acts including Jimmy Reed, John Lee Hooker, Gene Chandler, Jerry Butler, The Four Seasons and, for a time, The Beatles. The company folded in 1966. Bracken died in Los Angeles in 1972. Colin James
Colin James (born Colin James Munn, August 17, 1964) is a Canadian rock and blues singer and songwriter. Biography Early years James was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. His grandpa was Serbian. He got his break opening for Stevie Ray Vaughan in Regina in 1984. When the scheduled opening act did not show, he only had a few hours' notice to put together a set of blues standards with members from the local Regina band "Flying Colours". Vaughan invited James to perform with him during the encore, and then join his tour as a permanent opening act. He and his band The Hoodoo Men opened for Vaughan for several tour dates in the United States.
