Svenska Aero AB (full name: Svenska Aero Aktiebolaget, , abbr. SA) was a Swedish aircraft manufacturer on Hästholmen in Lidingö. The company was founded September 10, 1921, to license build Caspar-Werke and Heinkel aircraft. The company was bought by ASJA in 1932. History After World War I, the German aircraft industry had several problems. German airlines were forbidden to operate multi engined aircraft and during a period all manufacturing of aircraft in Germany was banned. By 1921, some of the restrictions was lifted, civilian aircraft could be made after approval of an international control commission if they fulfilled certain requirements. In order to bypass these rules and to be able to make whatever aircraft they wanted, several aircraft manufacturers moved abroad. The Heinkel He 2, produced in Sweden as the Svenska S 3 and nicknamed the "Hansa", was a reconnaissance floatplane built in small numbers to equip the Swedish Navy in the 1920s. Svenska Aero Jaktfalken ("The Gyrfalcon") was a Swedish biplane fighter aircraft, constructed in the late 1920s. The aircraft was first manufactured by Svenska Aero from 1929 to 1932 and later by AB Svenska Järnvägsverkstädernas Aeroplanavdelning (ASJA) from 1934 to 1935. History Jaktfalken was constructed and manufactured by Svenska Aero as a private venture, internally designated the ''SA-11'' for the initial variant. The company contacted the Swedish Aerial board, requesting guidelines and wishes for a fighter aircraft. When no reply was received, Svenska Aero began to look at foreign designs to get some guidance. Jaktfalken was a conventional biplane equipped with an Armstrong Siddeley Jaguar 500 hp 14-cylinder radial engine. The landing gear was fixed and there was a skid under the tail. Svenska Aero SA-13 Övningsfalken
The Svenska Aero Falken was a Swedish trainer aircraft. Two were built, with different engines and were used by the Swedish Air Force. Design and development The Falken trainer, closely related to the Jaktfalken fighter, was derived from the earlier Piraten. It was a single bay biplane with unswept, constant chord, thin section wings. Both wings were built around rectangular section steel spars and were fabric covered. They were mounted with light dihedral but with stagger so strong that the forward lower spar was directly below the upper aft one. Because of the stagger and a slightly shorter lower wing the N-form interplane struts leant both forwards and outwards. The upper wing was supported over the fuselage by a cabane formed by a pair of lateral, inverted V-struts to the forward spar and a single, transverse inverted V to the aft spar.
