Svelvik Church
is a town in Drammen Municipality in Buskerud county, Norway. The town is located along the west shore of the Drammensfjorden, about to the southeast of the town of Drammen and about north of the village of Berger. The village of Klokkarstua (in Asker Municipality) lies about to the east, across the fjord. The town has a population (2023) of 4,256 and a population density of . The town lies mostly in Drammen Municipality, but a small part of the urban area of Svelvik lies on the other side of the fjord (which is only wide at that point). About 130 people live right across the fjord in Asker Municipality. The newspaper '' Svelviksposten'' has been published in Svelvik since 1983. Historically, the designation of town/city was granted by the king, but since 1996 that authority was given to the local Municipal council (Norway), municipal councils for each municipality in Norway. Sword

A ''prestegjeld'' was a geographic and administrative area within the Church of Norway (''Den Norske Kirke'') roughly equivalent to a parish. This traditional designation was in use for centuries to divide the kingdom into ecclesiastical areas that were led by a parish priest. Viken (county)
Viken was a short-lived county in Norway that existed from 1 January 2020 to 1 January 2024. Its name was derived from the historical region in present-day Norway and Sweden. The county was located in Eastern Norway when it was established on 1 January 2020 by the merger of Akershus, Buskerud and Østfold with the addition of the municipalities of Jevnaker, Lunner and the former Svelvik Municipality. Formannskapsdistrikt
() was the name of a Norwegian self-governing municipality. The name was used from the establishment these municipalities in 1838 until the name fell out of use in 1863. The municipalities had their legal basis from two laws enacted on 14 January 1837. The laws established two types of ; one for cities () and one for rural districts (). These districts were mostly based on the former parishes. City municipalities had a monopoly on trade in both the municiality and for surrounding districts. Each district was to elect two councils that governed the municipality. The upper council was called and the lower council was called . Vestfold
Vestfold () is a county and a current electoral district in Norway. Located on the western shore of the Oslofjord, it borders Buskerud and Telemark counties. Strømm Municipality
Strømm is a former municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The area is now part of Drammen Municipality in Buskerud county. The administrative centre was the town of Svelvik (which was not actually part of the municipality). The village of Nesbygda was also located in the municipality. History The parish of Hurum was historically located in Buskerud and Jarlsberg og Laurvig counties and it including land on both sides of the Drammensfjorden which was the dividing boundary between the two counties. The western side was called ''Strømmen'' (later changed to ''Strømm'') and it was in Jarlsberg og Laurvig, which the eastern side of Hurum was in Buskerud.
