Svatove–Kreminna Line
Since 19 September 2022, a military campaign has taken place along a frontline in western parts of Luhansk Oblast and far-eastern parts of Kharkiv Oblast amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The frontline has been referred to as the Svatove–Kreminna line or the Kupiansk–Svatove–Kreminna–Bilohorivka line, after the major settlements that lie along it. Background The city of Svatove fell on 6 March 2022, less than two weeks into the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Kreminna, a city in Luhansk Oblast, was captured by Russian forces on 19 April. Between 5 and 13 May, Russian forces began a series of military engagements on the Lyman-Sievierodonetsk front. The settlement of Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast was one of the places where Russian forces tried unsuccessfully to cross the Siverskyi Donets, becoming a hot spot of fighting in early May 2022. Dronivka
Dronivka () is a village ( selo) in Bakhmut Raion, Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. History During the Holodomor from 1932 to 1933, 37 people in the village died. Russo-Ukrainian War During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian soldiers attempted to cross the Siversky Donets several times. In particular, in May 2022, they brought pontoons across the river near Dronivka ( and ) and Bilohorivka. On 12 May 2022, the crossing was thwarted, and Russian forces suffered severe losses. Demographics In the 1989 USSR census, the population of the village was given as 708 people, of whom 310 were men and 398 were women. Nadiia () is a village in eastern Ukraine, located in Kolomyichykha rural hromada, Svatove Raion, Luhansk Oblast. It has a population of 25. Hrekivka (; ), known as Petrivske () before 2016, is a village in Svatove Raion (district) in Luhansk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about northwest from the centre of Luhansk city. It belongs to Krasnorichenske settlement hromada, one of the ''hromada''s of Ukraine. History The settlement was founded in 1963. Russian invasion of Ukraine The village came under attack and was occupied by Russian forces in 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and was regained by Ukrainian forces on 5 October the same year. Stelmakhivka (Ukrainian: Стельмахівка) is a village in Kolomyichykha rural hromada, Svatove Raion, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. It had a population of 505 in 2001, however little to no people remain nowadays. The body of local self-government is Stelmakhiv village council. Geography The village is located near the border of Luhansk and Kharkiv Oblasts, 20 kilometers from Svatove and 23 kilometers from the urban settlement of Borova. Chervonopopivka () is a village in Sievierodonetsk Raion, Luhansk Oblast, Ukraine. History The village of Chervonopopivka was historically located in the Kreminna Raion which, as of 18 July 2020, was abolished and merged into the Sievierodonetsk Raion.
