The Florida Suncoast (or Florida Sun Coast) is a local marketing name for the west-central peninsular Florida coastal area, also sometimes known as Florida's Beach communities. The region contains nearly of Gulf of Mexico beaches and the warm, sunny winter climate attracts tourists from across the US, Canada, and Europe. The name comes from the coast receiving the most days of sunshine per year. Suncoast Estates is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,097 at the 2020 census, down from 4,384 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. Geography Suncoast Estates is in northern Lee County and is nearly surrounded by unincorporated North Fort Myers. Suncoast Suns
The Suncoast Suns was a minor league professional ice hockey team based in St. Petersburg, Florida, and played home games at the Bayfront Center. The Suns began in the Eastern Hockey League in 1971, and was a founding member of the Southern Hockey League in 1973. The Suns ceased operations in December 1973, partway through its third season. History The Suns franchise was started by a group of businessmen who wanted a team in the Raleigh, North Carolina area, but chose St. Petersburg instead due to a suitable arena. The name Suncoast Suns was selected by a panel of judges in July 1971 including Jack Russell and Al Lopez because it represented the Tampa Bay area. Suncoast Christian College, founded as the Suncoast Christian Academy in 1979 and known for some years as Suncoast Christian Outreach College, is a co-educational K–12 college located in Woombye, Queensland, Woombye, Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Suncoast is a hotel and casino located at 9090 Alta Drive in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Boyd Gaming. The hotel, located on a site, contains 432 rooms and has a casino, as well as a movie theater, bowling alley and convention space. Construction began in July 1999, and the project opened on September 12, 2000. Suncoast Motion Picture Company (Suncoast) is an American chain of retail stores specializing in new and used physical media, primarily CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays, and vinyl records, as well as collectibles. Suncoast was initially a subsidiary of Musicland before being purchased by Transworld Entertainment. After the purchase most stores were stocked like its sister chain FYE. Transworld entertainment was purchased by Sunrise Records in 2020 making Suncoast a subsidiary of it. As of 2025, only two stores remain in the chain.
