Stoss Pass
Stoss Pass (el. 942 m.) is a mountain pass between the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland. History On June 17, 1405, during the Appenzell Wars, there was a battle on the pass between 400 soldiers from Appenzell and 1200 Habsburg and abbatial soldiers. The Appenzellers were victorious and thereby won their independence from the Abbey of Saint Gall. There is a monument on the site. Richard Stöss (born 18 March 1944) is a German political scientist and extraordinary professor at the Free University of Berlin. The focus of his research is on right-wing extremism and on political parties. Life Richard Stöss was born during the final part of World War II at Sankt Goar, a small wine producing town on the left bank along the narrow section of the Rhine Gorge between Koblenz and Mainz. He passed his school final exams (''Abitur'') in 1965, just a few weeks short of his twenty-first birthday. Sebastian Stoss (born 14 January 1986 in Cairo, Egypt) is an Austrian swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. He is a two-time Olympian, a multiple-time Austrian champion, and also, a current member of Eisenstädter Swimming Club (), under his personal coach Andrzej Szarzynski. Stoss qualified for the men's 200 m backstroke at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by eclipsing a FINA A-standard entry time of 1:59.27 from the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Veit Stoss (, also spelled Stoß and Stuoss; ; ; before 1450about 20 September 1533) was a leading German language, German sculptor, mostly working with wood, whose career covered the transition between the late Gothic art, Gothic and the Northern Renaissance. Pavao Štoos (10 December 1806 – 30 March 1862) was a Croats, Croatian poet, priest and a Croatian National Revival, revivalist. After graduating theology in Zagreb, he served as a bishop's secretary for a brief period, and from 1842 he was a pastor of the Pokupsko parish. Štoos is a notable person among Croatian patriots; as the author of a well-known elegy ''Kip domovine vu početku leta 1831'', collaborator of Ljudevit Gaj's ''Danica ilirska'', he clearly articulated his concerns over the foreign oppression and the de-nationalisation of the common people (''vre i svoj jezik zabit Horvati hote ter drugi narod postati'').
