Steve Cherry
Steve Reginald Cherry (born 5 August 1960) is an English former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Goalkeeper (association football), goalkeeper. He made over 690 league and cup appearances in a 20-year career in the English Football League, Football League and National League (division), Conference, playing in the top five divisions of the English game. Cherry was spotted playing for Calverton Youth Wing by Derby County F.C., Derby County and joined the club on a two-year apprenticeship in 1976, becoming professional two years later. He won three Cap (sport), caps for the England national youth football team, England Youth Team in 1978. He started his first competitive senior game in February 1980 and played eight games on Loan (sports), loan at Port Vale F.C., Port Vale during the 1980–81 season. Neil Warnock
Neil Warnock (born 1 December 1948) is an English football manager and former player who is currently football advisor at Torquay United. He is also a television and radio pundit. In a managerial career spanning five decades, Warnock has managed sixteen different clubs from the Premier League to non-league. Within English football, he holds the record for the most promotions, with eight, and the most games as a professional manager, with 1626, beating the previous record of 1601 set by Dario Gradi. Warnock played as a winger for Chesterfield, Rotherham United, Hartlepool, Scunthorpe United, Aldershot, Barnsley, York City and Crewe Alexandra, scoring 36 goals in 327 career league appearances. Football League Second Division
The Football League Second Division was the second level division in the English football league system between 1892 and 1992. Promotion and relegation is used by sports leagues as a process where teams can move up and down among divisions in a league system, based on their performance over a season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are sometimes called open leagues. In sports, a loan involves a particular player being able to temporarily play for a club other than the one to which they are currently contracted. Loan deals may last from a few weeks to a full season, sometimes persisting for multiple seasons at a time. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football.
