Stere Adamache
Stere "Sterică" Adamache (17 August 1941 – 9 July 1978) was a Romanian football goalkeeper. Club career Stere Adamache, nicknamed "Baronul" (The Baron), was born on 17 August 1941 in Galați, Romania. He started to play football at junior level as a field player in 1955 at Energia Galați, afterwards moving at Ancora Galați where he started to play as a goalkeeper, later at Știința Galați and started his senior career by playing two Divizia B seasons at Dinamo Galați. He made his Divizia A debut on 9 September 1962, playing for Viitorul București in a 0–0 against Știința Cluj, shortly afterwards the club dissolved and he had offers to play for Steaua București and Steagul Roșu Brașov and after a talk with the latter's coach, Silviu Ploeșteanu, he chose Steagul on the considerations that he would have had more opportunities to play. Galați
Galați (, , ; also known by other alternative names) is the capital city of Galați County in the historical region of Western Moldavia, in eastern Romania. Galați is a port town on the Danube River. Beşiktaş () is a district and municipality of Istanbul, Turkey, located on the European shore of the Bosphorus strait. 1970 FIFA World Cup
The 1970 FIFA World Cup was the ninth edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football championship for men's senior national teams. Held from 31 May to 21 June in Mexico, it was the first World Cup tournament held outside Europe and South America, and it was also the first held in North America. Teams representing 75 nations from all six populated continents entered the competition, and its qualification rounds began in May 1968. Fourteen teams qualified from this process to join host nation Mexico and defending champions England in the 16-team final tournament. Nicolae Pescaru
Nicolae Pescaru (27 March 1943 – 25 May 2019) was a Romanian footballer and manager, who worked mostly for Steagul Roșu Brașov. Club career Nicolae Pescaru was born on 27 March 1943 in Breaza, Prahova County, Romania. He started to play football at junior level in 1959 at Someșul Beclean, after one year moving at Progresul Făgăraș. He started to play senior football at Chimia Făgăraș in Divizia B, afterwards transferring to Steagul Roșu Brașov where he made his Divizia A debut on 23 September 1962 under coach Silviu Ploeșteanu in a 4–2 home victory against Știința Cluj. Mihai Ivăncescu
Mihai Ivăncescu (22 March 1942 – 2 January 2004) was a Romanian footballer who played as a right back for two Brașov teams, Steagul and Tractorul. Club career Mihai Ivăncescu was born on 22 March 1942 in Adâncata, Romania. He started to play football at junior level in 1956, aged 14 at Steagul Roșu Brașov. He made his Divizia A debut, playing for Steagul on 24 September 1961 under coach Silviu Ploeșteanu in a 2–1 home victory against Dinamo București. Soviet Union National Football Team
The Soviet Union national football team ( rus, сбо́рная СССР по футбо́лу, r=sbórnaya SSSR po futbólu) was the national football team of the former Soviet Union. After the breakup of the Union the team was transformed into the CIS national football team. FIFA considers the CIS national football team (and ultimately, the Russia national football team) as the Soviet successor team allocating its former records to them (except for the Olympic records which are not combined due to the IOC policy); nevertheless, a large percentage of the team's former players came from outside the Russian SFSR, mainly from the Ukrainian SSR, and following the breakup of the Soviet Union, some such as Andrei Kanchelskis from the former Ukrainian SSR, continued to play in the new Russia national football team. Angelo Niculescu (1 October 1921 – 20 June 2015) was a Romanian football player and manager. He was the coach of the Romania national football team during the 1970 FIFA World Cup. He is best remembered in Romania for inventing the "temporizare" ("delaying") tactics in which the team keeps the possession of the ball inside its own half and the players are using many short passes from one side to another of the field in order to disrupt the opponents patience when they go out of their field to make pressing; this is also known as tiki-taka.
