Stephen Kemp
Stephen Benjamin Kemp (November 8, 1849 – October 30, 1918) was an English pianist, piano pedagogue, music editor, and composer. Education and career Born in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England, Stephen Kemp was trained at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) where he attended as a scholarship student for a three-year period. His teachers at the RAM included brothers George and Walter Macfarren, William Sterndale Bennett, Otto Goldschmidt, John Goss, and Ernst Pauer. He made his professional debut as a concert pianist at the age of fourteen at the Assembly Rooms in Yarmouth, and was thereafter active as a concert pianist in London for many years. Kemp was an active member of the Royal Philharmonic Society. In 1871 he gave a highly successful concert tour of England and Wales with the clarinetist Henry Lazarus. National Training School Of Music
The National Training School for Music, sometimes given as the National Training School of Music, was a music conservatory located in Kensington, London, England. Established in 1873 and opened in 1876, the school's first principal was Arthur Sullivan. He was succeeded by John Stainer in 1881. In 1882 the school was absorbed into the newly created Royal College of Music which began instructing students in 1883. Stanley Wells Kemp
Stanley Wells Kemp, FRS (14 June 1882 – 16 May 1945) was an English marine biologist. He was born in London, the second of three sons of Stephen Kemp, a professor at the Royal Academy and Royal School of Music. As a boy he took an interest in animals, collecting water beetles and maintaining them in aquariums and was a member of the local natural history society. He studied at St Paul's School and later went to Trinity College in Dublin from where he graduated with a gold medal in 1903. He studied botany under H. H. Dixon. In 1910 he joined the Zoological and Anthropological section of the Indian Museum and when the organization was converted in 1916 to the Zoological Survey of India, he became Superintendent and took up the study of crustaceans to continue work started by James Wood-Mason and Alfred William Alcock.
