Stephan Hartmann
Stephan Hartmann (born 1 March 1968) is a German philosopher and Professor of Philosophy of Science at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, known for his contributions to formal epistemology. Biography Hartmann received his PhD from Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany in 1995. He started his academic career at the University of Washington and the University of Pittsburgh. Back in Germany in 2002 at the University of Konstanz he headed the research group Philosophy, Probability and Modelling together with Luc Bovens. From 2004 to 2006 he led the Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science (CPNSS) at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and became Professor in LSE's Department of Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method. European Society For Analytic Philosophy
The European Society for Analytic Philosophy (ESAP) is a philosophical organization founded by Kevin Mulligan, Barry Smith, Peter Simons, Pierre Jacob, Diego Marconi, Francois Recanati, Marco Santambrogio, Andreas Kemmerling and Pascal Engel in 1991. History The founders of ESAP felt that after the long interruption due to World War II and the North American exile of many European philosophers, analytic philosophy was finally flourishing again in Europe. But even though more and more people were doing analytic philosophy in Continental Europe, they were often not even aware of each other's existence. Both in their writings and in their personal interactions, European analytic philosophers were looking rather exclusively towards North America and Britain. Jan Michael Sprenger (born 26 November 1982) is a German chess grandmaster and philosopher. Chess career Born in 1982, Sprenger earned his international master title in 2001 and his grandmaster title in 2018. He is the No. 55 ranked German player as of March 2023. Sprenger plays in the German Chess Bundesliga for the team of ''Schachfreunde Berlin'' and writes regularly on chess-related topics. Roman Frigg
Roman Frigg (born 1972) is a Swiss philosopher, Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science and director of its Centre for Philosophy of Natural and Social Science. In 2016 he was awarded the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award. Born in Basel, Switzerland, Frigg obtained his MSc in Theoretical Physics at the University of Basel. Luc Bovens is a Belgian professor of philosophy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Bovens is a former editor of ''Economics and Philosophy''.
