State Farm Holiday Classic
The State Farm Holiday Classic, named after the title sponsor State Farm Insurance, is one of the largest co-ed, high school holiday basketball tournaments in the United States, with 64 teams (32 boys and 32 girls). Held annually for four days following Christmas and dubbed "The Best Basketball This Side of March", the Classic is held at numerous college and high-school venues throughout Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. In 2017 the tournament will be played December 27–30. History For nearly four decades, the Holiday Classic has been a showcase of talent and basketball in Bloomington-Normal. The 2017 tournament will be the 39th anniversary for one of the nation's largest coed high school holiday basketball tournaments. LaToya Bond (born February 13, 1984) is an American professional women's basketball player with the Indiana Fever of the WNBA. Born in Decatur, Illinois, Bond is 5'9" (1.75 m) tall and weighs 132 lbs (59.9 kg). At Urbana High School in Urbana, Illinois, Bond was selected to the 2000 and 2001 State Farm Holiday Classic all-tournament teams. She finished her last season at Mizzou as the 7th leading scorer in the Big 12, blasting past the 1000 point mile-marker. She was named a Kodak/ WBCA All-America Honorable Mention and made the All Big 12 First Team as well as the Big 12 Defensive Team. Brian Joshua Cook (born December 4, 1980) is an American former professionalbasketball player. He was drafted out of the University of Illinois with the 24th overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2004, Cook was named to the University of Illinois All-Century Team. High school career Cook played high school basketball at Lincoln Community High School in central Illinois where he led the Railsplitters to the quarterfinals of the 1999 Illinois High School Association class AA state boys basketball tournament. Cook scored 38 points in 2 IHSA tournament finals games, averaging 19.0 points per game. Mel McCants
Melvin Lamont McCants (born August 19, 1967) is an American retired basketball player. Along with James Farr, Derek Boyd and Chris Calloway, McCants led Chicago's Mount Carmel to th1985 Illinois state basketball championship It is the only Illinois AA high school boys basketball championship won by a Chicago Catholic League School. He was selected to the 1982 and 1983 State Farm Holiday Classic all-tournament teams. After high school, McCants attended Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, to play under legendary coach Gene Keady. Kevin Duckworth
Kevin Jerome Duckworth (April 1, 1964 – August 25, 2008) was an American professional basketball player who played as center in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A native of Illinois, he played college basketball at Eastern Illinois University before being drafted in 1986 in the second round by the San Antonio Spurs. Before completing his rookie season with the Spurs, he was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers where he spent most of his six seasons and was named the NBA's Most Improved Player and a two-time All-Star. Eddy Anthony Curry Jr. (born December 5, 1982) is an American former professional basketball player. Coming directly out of Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois, Curry was selected fourth overall in the 2001 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. Curry played for the Bulls until 2005, then played for the New York Knicks from 2005 to 2010. Curry played for the Miami Heat in the season and was part of the Heat's 2012 championship team.
