Star (2014 Film)
''Star'' () is a 2014 Russian comedy-drama film directed by Anna Melikian. Plot Young Masha desperately wants to become a star, she saves money for plastic surgery and in parallel, persistently goes to castings and looks after a lonely old man to earn money. Mature Rita is the lover of the deputy minister, who wants to become pregnant and marry him. Kostya is the son of a deputy minister, who is constantly in conflict with his father and Rita, but falls in love with Masha when he meets her. After quarreling, Rita is forced to leave her lover's house, and meets Masha by chance. Anna Melikian (; ; born February 8, 1976) is a Russian film and TV director/ producer whose work has been recognized with various awards at major international film festivals. After her participation at 2018 Sundance Film Festival she was listed in the TOP 10 of most perspective film directors by ''Variety'' magazine. Biography Anna Melikian was born in Baku, Azerbaijan. She spent her childhood in Yerevan, Armenia. At the age of 17 she moved to Moscow, Russia. Melikian studied at the All-Russian State University of Cinematography film school in Moscow (classes of Prof. Sergey Solovyov and Valery Rubinchik), where she was awarded the St. Anna prize for ''Poste restante'' (2000). In the 1990s, she worked for a while on television as a director of several programs and as a writer of video commercials and TV projects. The Golden Eagle Award () is an award given by the National Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences of Russia to recognize excellence of professionals in the film industry, directors, actors, and writers. Modelled after the American Golden Globe Awards, the formal ceremony at which the awards are presented is one of the most prominent award ceremonies in Russia, alongside the Nika Award. The national Russian award is given out in 24 categories each January for motion pictures and TV series produced in Russia during the previous year. The awarding statuette is a silver eagle, originally made from copper with a jade pedestal, and was designed by sculptor Viktor Mitroshin. The Odesa International Film Festival () is an annual film festival held in the middle of July in Odesa. Since 2016 the festival program has consisted of three parts: the International competition, National competition and European Documentary competition. The National competition is divided into Features and Shorts. History The first Odesa International Film Festival was held from 16 to 24 July 2010. Juozas Budraitis (born 6 October 1940) is a Lithuanian actor. He has appeared in more than 60 films and television shows since 1966. He starred in the Soviet film ''Wounded Game'', which was entered into the 1977 Cannes Film Festival.
