Stan Lee Meets Superheroes
''Stan Lee Meets...'' was a limited series published in 2006 by Marvel Comics in which comic book writer Stan Lee meets one of the characters he has created in each issue. The series was written by Stan Lee himself and was released to celebrate his 65th year as a Marvel Comics employee. The series is noted for its tongue-in-cheek humor and the comic book characters' general dislike of Stan Lee. Over the course of the five issues, Lee meets Spider-Man, the Thing, Doctor Doom, Doctor Strange and the Silver Surfer. Each issue also contained reprints of issues from each character's respective comic. Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber ; December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018) was an American comic book author, writer, editor, publisher, and producer. He rose through the ranks of a family-run business called Timely Comics which later became Marvel Comics. He was Marvel's primary creative leader for two decades, expanding it from a small publishing house division to a multimedia corporation that dominated the comics and film industries. The Thing (Benjamin Jacob "Ben" Grimm) is a fictional superhero character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a founding member of the Fantastic Four. The Thing was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and he first appeared in ''Fantastic Four (comic book), The Fantastic Four'' #1 (cover-dated Nov. 1961). Known for his trademark rocky appearance, he has superhuman strength, a sense of humor, and the battle cry and catchphrase "It's clobberin' time!" Thing's speech patterns are loosely based on Jimmy Durante. Doctor Doom is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Dr. Stephen Vincent Strange is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
