Sponge (band)
Sponge is an American rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1992 by vocalist Vinnie Dombroski, guitarist Mike Cross, bassist Tim Cross, drummer Jimmy Paluzzi, and guitarist Joey Mazzola. Dombroski and the Cross brothers were previously in the hard rock band Loudhouse, with Mazzola joining later before the end of the band's tenure. Sponge's discography includes ten studio albums, four live albums, and several charting singles. They are best known for their 1994 hit " Plowed", their 1995 hit "Molly (16 Candles Down the Drain)", and their 1996 hit " Wax Ecstatic (To Sell Angelina)". Sponge has undergone several lineup changes throughout the band's history, with founder and frontman Dombroski serving as the band's sole constant member. Vinnie Dombroski is an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist and main songwriter for the rock music, rock band Sponge (band), Sponge. He also fronted the short-lived supergroup (music), supergroup Spys4Darwin, and has been a member of several Detroit-based bands throughout his career. Dombroski is also the lead vocalist and co-founder of the Lucid alongside bassist David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth), guitarist Drew Fortier (ex-Bang Tango), and drummer Mike Heller (ex-Fear Factory). Career Loudhouse Dombroski played drums for the band Loudhouse, which would release one full-length album titled ''For Crying Out Loud'' in 1991. Joey Mazzola
Joey Mazzola is an American musician, songwriter, and artist, best known as a founding member of the rock band Sponge. Career A Detroit native, Mazzola spent 1987 to 1992 on the Los Angeles club circuit. He was the original Sponge guitarist and played with the band for twelve years, leaving in 2004. After his tenure with Sponge, Mazzola branched out into functional art. Using reclaimed and recycled metals and materials, he set up a studio named Eastworks Detroit. Mazzola began experimenting with a combination of iron, brass and copper pipes as well as glass and wood, creating an entire body of work. Designing fun and functional lamps and lighting from items such as mid-century modern fans. Mazzola's daughter, Rose Mazzola, co-founded the punk rock band the Distillers in 1998. Mainstream Rock is a music chart published by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks the most-played songs on mainstream rock radio stations in the United States. Inch was an American post-hardcore band formed in San Diego, California, in 1992. The group was founded by former Sub Society vocalist Michael "Stimy" Steinman, guitarist Mike Paprocki, drummer Dave Hepler, and bassist Jeff Reese. Inch released three albums during the 1990s until their disbandment in 1999. After being involved with numerous other bands, frontman Steinman died in 2010. Failure is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles that was active from 1990 to 1997 and again from 2014 to the present. Failure is recognized for being one of the standouts of 1990's Space Rock, with a focus on compounded guitar effects, uncommon melodies, and an emphasis on substance over style. Failure was a lesser-recognized band who started off with their initial release ''Comfort'' presumed by many at the time as a post-grunge release.
