Ulster Special Constabulary
The Ulster Special Constabulary (USC; commonly called the "B-Specials" or "B Men") was a quasi-military Military reserve, reserve special constable police force in what would later become Northern Ireland. It was set up in October 1920, shortly before the partition of Ireland. The USC was an armed corps, organised partially on military lines and called out in times of emergency, such as war or insurgency. It performed this role most notably in the early 1920s during the Irish War of Independence and the 1956–1962 Border Campaign (IRA), IRA Border Campaign. During its existence, 95 USC members were killed in the line of duty. Most of these (72) were killed in conflict with the IRA in 1921 and 1922. Another 8 died during the Second World War, in air raids or IRA attacks. Of the remainder, most died in accidents but two former officers were killed during the Troubles in the 1980s. The force was almost exclusively Ulster Protestant and as a result was viewed with great mistrust ...

The Specials
The Specials, also known as the Special AKA, were an English 2 tone and ska revival band formed in 1977 in Coventry. After some early changes, the first stable lineup of the group consisted of Terry Hall and Neville Staple on vocals, Jerry Dammers on keyboards, Lynval Golding and Roddy Radiation on guitars, Horace Panter on bass, John Bradbury on drums, and Dick Cuthell and Rico Rodriguez on horns. The band wore mod-style "1960s period rude boy outfits ( pork pie hats, tonic and mohair suits and loafers)". Their music combines the danceable rhythms of ska and rocksteady with the energy and attitude of punk. Lyrically, their work (often written by primary songwriter Dammers) presented overt political and social commentary. In 1980, their '' The Special AKA Live!'' EP, featuring lead track "Too Much Too Young", reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart. In 1981, the recession-themed single " Ghost Town" also hit No. 1 in the UK. After seven consecutive UK top 10 ...

The Specials (album)
''Specials'' is the debut album by British ska revival band the Specials. Released on 19 October 1979 on Jerry Dammers' 2 Tone label, the album is seen by some as the defining moment in the UK ska scene. Produced by Elvis Costello, the album captures the disaffection and anger felt by the youth of the UK's "concrete jungle"—a phrase borrowed from Bob Marley's 1973 album '' Catch a Fire''—used to describe the grim, violent inner cities of 1970s Britain. The album features a mixture of original material and several covers of classic Jamaican ska tracks. A live version of " Too Much Too Young" was later released on a five-track EP, '' The Special AKA Live!'', which went to number one on the UK charts. "'A Message to You, Rudy" was also released as a single. A digitally remastered edition also featuring promotional videos to " Gangsters" and "Too Much Too Young" as enhanced content was released by EMI in 2002. The album was included in the book '' 1001 Albums You Must Hear B ...

Special (Jimmy Cliff Album)
''Special'' is an album by the Jamaican musician Jimmy Cliff, released in 1982. It was his first album for Columbia Records. ''Special'' peaked at No. 186 on the ''Billboard'' 200. "Treat the Youths Right" was a significant hit in Jamaica. Production The album was produced by Chris Kimsey. Ron Wood played guitar on a couple of the tracks; Sly Dunbar contributed on drums. "Roots Radical" is about respect for Jamaica and the culture that it has created. "Keep On Dancing" ironically advises listeners to continue to ignore social problems. Much of "Originator" consists of Cliff's vocals backed by hand drums. Critical reception ''The Boston Globe'' called ''Special'' "a wonderful, lively blend of dance-reggae minus the excessive production and strained formula-pop that marred some of hi ...
