Space Park Leicester
Space Park Leicester is a research, innovation and teaching hub in England for space-related high-tech companies and researchers focussing primarily on research, development and applications of space. It is located in Belgrave, Leicester next to the National Space Centre and the River Soar. It was officially opened by British astronaut Tim Peake in March 2022. It is a unique single-site science and innovation park and strategically placed space sector cluster with a national and international focus and is forecast to contribute £750 million a year to the UK space sector over the next decade. Organisations that reside at Space Park Leicester include Rolls Royce, Airbus, Northrop Grumman, Satellite Applications Catapult, Maxar, CGI, EarthSense and Open Cosmos. Belgrave is an area, suburb, electoral ward and administrative division of the city of Leicester, in the ceremonial county of Leicestershire, England. National Space Centre
The National Space Centre is a museum and educational resource covering the fields of space science and astronomy, along with a space research programme in partnership with the University of Leicester. It is located on the north side of the city in Belgrave, Leicester, England, next to Space Park Leicester and the River Soar. Many of the exhibits, including upright rockets are housed in a tower with minimal steel supports and a semi-transparent cladding of ETFE 'pillows', which has become one of Leicester's most recognisable landmarks. River Soar
The River Soar () is a major tributary of the River Trent in the East Midlands as well as the principal river of Leicestershire, England. The source of the river is midway between Hinckley and Lutterworth. The river then flows north through Leicester, where it is joined by the Grand Union Canal. Continuing on through the Leicestershire Soar Valley, it passes Loughborough and Kegworth until it reaches the Trent at the county boundary. In the 18th century, the Soar was made navigable, initially between Loughborough and the Trent, and then through to Leicester. It was not until the early 19th century that it was linked by the Grand Union Canal to the wider network to the south and to London.
