Something Good (Utah Saints Song)
"Something Good" is a song by English electronic music duo Utah Saints. It was first included as the opening song on a seven-track EP titled ''Something Good'', then later included on their debut album, ''Utah Saints'' (1992). The song contains a vocal sample from Kate Bush's " Cloudbusting", which had been a top-20 UK hit in 1985. Issued as a single on 25 May 1992, it reached number four on the UK Singles Chart as well as number seven on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart. The BBC used the song during its coverage of the Opening Ceremony of the Barcelona Olympic Games of 1992 and was also used for Carlton Television's pre-launch trailer. In 2007, the track was remixed by Australian band Van She under their electro remix pseudonym, "Van She Tech", and released in March 2008 as "Something Good '08" with a new music video. Utah Saints
Utah Saints are an English electronic music duo consisting of members Jez Willis and Tim Garbutt. The band had three top-ten and another five top-40 singles on the UK Singles Chart in the 1990s, as well as number-one dance tracks in the UK and US. They were notable for pioneering use of sampling technology, in particular, their practice of manipulating samples from mainstream pop, rock, R&B and soul songs and combining them with contrasting dance beats, using the samples in a new context. The band wrote, produced and mixed all of their own music. The duo were joined on stage by additional musicians when they played live from 1991 to 2001. They were one of the first electronic groups to play as a live collective and supported both the Shamen and U2 live at 10 stadium shows. Since then the duo have performed live sets themselves. The first series of British reality television show ''Pop Idol'' was broadcast on ITV in the United Kingdom during the winter months of 2001 and 2002. The show was a singing competition open to people aged between 16 and 26 years old, with the winner receiving a £1 million recording contract to release their debut album. ''Pop Idol'' received ratings of as high as 10 million viewers for shows before the live final. The footage of the programme's opening titles, as well as the live final of this series, was used in the first season of ''American Idol'', which began over four months after the airing of the live final, in which Kelly Clarkson won the season. Ian Joseph Harshman (September 13, 1975 – August 20, 2021), better known by his stage name Ian Carey, was an American house DJ, musician, and record producer based in Miami, Florida. Biography Carey grew up in Hancock, Maryland, graduating from Hancock Middle-Senior High School in 1993. His father was a live sound engineer and ran a sound reinforcement company; he had engineered for such groups as Kool & The Gang and The Duke Ellington Orchestra. Carey became involved with dance music while in college. Lincoln Barrett (born 18 September 1979), better known by the stage name High Contrast, is a Welsh electronic music producer, DJ and record producer. He produces drum and bass music, and his 2009 album '' Confidential'' reached BPI gold certification (100,000 units sold in the UK). Career Early work Barrett was born in Penarth, near Cardiff, and grew up more interested in films and film soundtracks than rock or pop music; he cites Wendy Carlos's ''A Clockwork Orange'' soundtrack album and the Vangelis soundtrack for ''Blade Runner'' as defining musical influences. The running man is a street dance, consisting of "shuffling" and sliding steps, imitating a stationary runner. The dancer takes steps forward, then slides the foot placed in front backwards almost immediately, while moving their fists forwards and back horizontally in front of them. The fad dance was said to have been started in the mid-1980s. Notable practitioners of the dance were MC Hammer, Janet Jackson, Five Star, Selena, Milli Vanilli, and Vanilla Ice during their live concert shows and in music videos.
