Solukhumbu
Solukhumbu District ( ne, सोलुखुम्बु जिल्ला , Sherpa: , Wylie: shar khum bu dzong) is one of 14 districts of Province No. 1 of eastern Nepal. As the name suggests, it consists of the subregions Solu and Khumbu. The district, with Solududhkunda Municipality, Salleri as its headquarters, covers an area of and had a population 107,686 in 2001 and 105,886 in 2011. Mount Everest is in the northern part of this district, within Sagarmatha National Park. History Historically, Solukhumbu was part of Kirata Kingdoms in early and medieval era. It was a part of Majh Kirat Khambuwan (central province or region of Kirat Autonomous State, Kirat Kingdoms). Dudhkunda Municipality
Solududhkunda ( ne, सोलुदुधकुण्ड नगरपालिका) (earlier:Dudhkunda) is the only municipality of Solukhumbu District. Located in Province No. 1 of Nepal. The town of Salleri, which is located within the municipality is the headquarter of Solukhumbu District It was formed in 2014 by merging four VDCs: Salleri, Garma, Loding Tamakhani and Beni and was divided into 9 wards. Gaunpalika ( ne, गाउँपालिका, lit=Rural municipal, translit=gāunpālikā}) is the newly formed lower administrative division in Nepal. This administrative division was established in 2017, and replaced the existing village development committees. There are currently 460 rural municipalities. Nechasalyan ( ne, नेचासल्यान गाउँपालिका) is a rural municipality, or ''gaunpalika'', located in Solukhumbu District, Province No. 1, Nepal. Solukhumbu has eight municipalities in all; one is an urban municipality (or ''nagarpalika'') and the other seven are rural municipalities. According to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, Nechasalyan has an area of and the total population of the municipality is 16,129 as of the Census of Nepal 2011. Nechasalyan was created by the merger of three previously separate village development committees (or VDCs): Salyan, Necha Betghari, and Necha Batase. Rai People
The Rai are an ethnolinguistic group belonging to the Kirati people, Kirat family and primarily Tibeto-Burman languages, Tibeto-Burman linguistic ethnicity. They mainly reside in the eastern parts of Nepal, the Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal (predominantly Darjeeling district, Darjeeling and Kalimpong district, Kalimpong Hills) and in south western Bhutan. The Rais are a set of groups, one of the cultivating tribes of Nepal. They inhabited the area between the Dudh Koshi and Tamur River in Nepal. They claim that their country alone is called (Kirat Autonomous State, Kiratdesh), and they call themselves Rai. In modern times, they have spread over Nepal, Sikkim and West Bengal. Kulung People
The Kulung Rai also call Kulunge Rai/Rodu are one of the major subgroup of Rai peoplewww.insidehimalayas.com and indigenous communities of Nepal, as well as parts of northeastern Sikkim and Darjeeling district of India, having their own Kulung language, culture, history and tradition. The Kulung population in Nepal is estimated to be in the region of 150,000-200,000.
