Soerabaia 45
Soerabaia 45 is an Indonesian film released in 1990. The film was directed by Imam Tantowi and starred Nyoman Swadayani, Leo Kristi, and Usman Effendy. The story of the film is based on the 1945 Battle of Surabaya between pro-independence Indonesian soldiers and militia against British and British Indian troops as a part of the Indonesian National Revolution. The film was nominated for the Best Film award at the 1991 Indonesian Film Festival, and Imam Tantowi, Tantowi won the Indonesian Film Festival#Citra Awards, Citra Award for Best Director at the 1991 Indonesian Film Festival for the film. Imam Tantowi
Imam Tantowi (born 13 August 1946) is an Indonesian film director and screenwriter. Tantowi was a stage director before he began to work in film, first as artistic director and later as assistant director. In 1982 he was given the opportunity to direct his first film, ''Pasukan Berani Mati'' (''Ready-to-Die Force''). In a career spanning six decades he has directed 18 feature films and written more than 30 scripts for the screen and for television. Tantowi won the Indonesian Film Festival#Citra Awards, Citra Award for Best Original Screenplay at the 1989 Indonesian Film Festival for his film '. At the 1991 Indonesian Film Festival he won the Best Director award for his film ''Soerabaia 45''. Idris Sardi
Muhammad Idris Sardi (June 7, 1938 – April 28, 2014) was an Indonesian violinist and composer. Idris Sardi was born on June 7, 1938, to Sardi, an Indonesian composer, and Hadidjah, an Indonesian actress. Idris learned to play the violin when he was six years old. At age 10, he performed in public for the first time in Yogyakarta in 1949. His performance garnered attention due to his undoubted talent. Idris was also widely known as a talented composer. He was awarded the prestigious Citra Award for best sound in several movies, namely Pengantin Remaja (Young Newlyweds) in 1971, Perkawinan (Marriage) in 1973, Cinta Pertama (First Love) in 1974, and Doea Tanda Mata (Two Mementos) in 1985. The Battle of Surabaya () was a major battle in the Indonesian National Revolution fought between regular infantry and militia of the Indonesian nationalist movement and British and British Indian Army, British Indian troops against the re-imposition of Dutch East Indies, Dutch colonial rule.
