Sobusa Gula-Ndebele
Sobusa Gula-Ndebele (born 1954) is the former Attorney General of Zimbabwe. He was appointed to the position in 2006 by Robert Mugabe, and his mandate was briefly renewed in 2007. However, following ZANU-PF infighting, Gula-Ndebele was placed on a period of suspension in March 2007, before being dismissed from office in May 2008. He was succeeded by Justice Bharat Patel, who served as acting AG until Mugabe appointed Johannes Tomana as the permanent Attorney-General in December. After independence, he practiced as a lawyer, establishing the law firm Gula-Ndebele and Partners Legal Practitioners. He is a former chairman of the Electoral Supervisory Commission. Attorney General Of Zimbabwe
The Office of the Attorney-General of Zimbabwe (AG) falls under the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs (Zimbabwe), Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs of Zimbabwe. In November 2013, the prosecuting and government advisory roles of the Attorney-General were split under the new Constitution. The Attorney-General at that time, Johannes Tomana, became Prosecutor-General. The Attorney-General is the chief legal advisor of the government of Zimbabwe and also sits as a member of the Senate of Zimbabwe, Senate. The current Attorney-General since 2023 is Virginia Mabiza, the first woman to hold the position. Robert Mugabe
Robert Gabriel Mugabe (; ; 21 February 1924 – 6 September 2019) was a Zimbabwean revolutionary and politician who served as Prime Minister of Zimbabwe from 1980 to 1987 and then as President from 1987 to 2017. He served as Leader of the Zimbabwe African National Union (ZANU) from 1975 to 1980 and led its successor political party, the ZANU – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF), from 1980 to 2017. Ideologically an African nationalist, during the 1970s and 1980s he identified as a Marxist–Leninist, and as a socialist during the 1990s and the remainder of his career. Bharatkumar "Bharat" Patel (born 16 April 1952) is a Zimbabwean judge who has served on the Supreme Court of Zimbabwe since 2013. Education Patel was born on 16 April 1952 in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia (today Harare, Zimbabwe). He attended Louis Mountbatten School, a government school in Salisbury. He received his secondary education at two private schools, Peterhouse Boys' School and St. George's College. Johannes Tomana
Johannes Tomana (9 September 1967 – 6 August 2023) was a Zimbabwean attorney. He served as Prosecutor-General of Zimbabwe from November 2013 until his dismissal in June 2017. Biography Tomana was originally appointed after the prosecuting and government advisory roles of the Attorney General were split under the new Constitution which came into effect in 2013. Previously he served as the Attorney-General, having been appointed to the position by Robert Mugabe on 18 December 2008. Gweru
Gweru, originally known as Gwelo, is a city in central Zimbabwe. It is on the centre of Midlands Province. Originally an area known to the Ndebele as "The Steep Place" because of the Gweru River's high banks, in 1894 it became the site of a military outpost established by Leander Starr Jameson. In 1914 it attained municipal status, and in 1971 it became a city. The city has a population of 158,200 as of the 2022 census. Gweru is known for farming activities in beef cattle, crop farming, and commercial gardening of crops for the export market. It is also home to a number of colleges and universities, most prominently Midlands State University and Mkoba Teachers College. The city was nicknamed City of Progress. The Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU–PF) is a political organisation which has been the ruling party of Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.
