''Sneaker'' is the debut album by the band Sneaker. It was released in 1981 on Handshake Records. It contains the hit single, "More Than Just the Two of Us" (U.S. #34, AC #17). Although the song became more popular in the Philippines. Sneaker was a West Coast American rock band, active from 1973 to 1983. The band is best known for its ''Billboard'' Hot 100 Top 40 hit single, "More Than Just the Two of Us", from its first album, ''Sneaker'' (1981). They also had a minor hit with "Don't Let Me In", a song written by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker from Steely Dan. Sneaker was composed of Tim Torrance on guitars, Mitch Crane on vocals and guitars, Michael Carey Schneider on vocals and keyboards, Mike Hughes on drums, Michael Cottage on bass guitar, and Jim King on keyboards, synthesizers, and vibes. The band cited as its primary musical influences Steely Dan, Eagles and The Doobie Brothers. John Hanlon is an American record producer and recording engineer. Career He is best known for producing, engineering, and mixing albums for Neil Young, Stephen Stills, T-Bone Burnett, R.E.M, Gillian Welch, Dennis Wilson, and The Beach Boys. Work with Neil Young His relationship with Neil Young started in 1983, when he and David Briggs, Young's longtime producer, were working on ''Trans'' remixes. Hanlon joined Briggs again in 1990, engineering and mixing Neil Young and Crazy Horse's album '' Ragged Glory''. He has been working with Young ever since. Jimmie Haskell
Jimmie Haskell (born Sheridan Pearlman, November 7, 1926 – February 4, 2016) was an American composer and arranger for motion pictures and a wide variety of popular artists, including Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Steely Dan, Billy Joel, and the Everly Brothers. His career spanned over six decades. Biography Haskell was born in Brooklyn, New York. He entered the music business in the 1950s doing arrangements for Imperial Records. His first professional arrangement was a chart of " Nature Boy", sold to Lionel Hampton. He became the arranger of choice for Ricky Nelson, arranging and producing around 75 records for the artist, including such hits as " There's Nothing I Can Say" and " Hello Mary Lou". Bobby LaKind
Robert Jay LaKind (November 3, 1945 – December 24, 1992) was an American conga player, vocalist, songwriter and occasional backup drummer with The Doobie Brothers. Originally a lighting roadie for the band, he was invited to join as a sideman for studio sessions after band members noticed his talent when LaKind goofed around on the congas after a concert. LaKind was from Teaneck, New Jersey and graduated from Teaneck High School, Class of 1963. He attended the University of Kentucky and was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity, the Animal House of the university's fraternities during the 1960s. Also a member of Sigma Nu during this time was basketball player and future coach, Pat Riley. LaKind was a session man with the Doobie Brothers from 1976 and joined them onstage as well. Sir Thomas Hicks (born 17 December 1936), known professionally as Tommy Steele, is an English entertainer, regarded as Britain's first teen idol and rock and roll star. Albert Harry Schmitt (April 17, 1930 – April 26, 2021) was an American recording engineer and record producer. He won twenty Grammy Awards for his work with Henry Mancini, Steely Dan, George Benson, Toto, Natalie Cole, Quincy Jones, and others. He also won 2 Latin Grammys, and a Trustees Grammy for Lifetime Achievement. Biography Early career Schmitt grew up in New York City and lived in Brooklyn until the late 1940s. The Village (also known as Village Recorders, or the Village Recorder) is a recording studio located at 1616 Butler Avenue in West Los Angeles, California. History The building was built by the Freemasons in 1922 and was originally a Masonic temple. It remained that way until the 1960s, when Maharishi Mahesh Yogi used the building as a center for Transcendental Meditation. The temple was converted into a recording studio in 1968 by composer and meatpacking heir Geordie Hormel. The Village is home to a vintage Neve 8048 console as well as two Neve 88R consoles. Donald Fagen
Donald Jay Fagen (born January 10, 1948) is an American musician best known as the co-founder, lead singer, co-songwriter, and keyboardist of the band Steely Dan, formed in the early 1970s with musical partner Walter Becker. In addition to his work with Steely Dan, Fagen has released four solo albums. He began his solo career in 1982 with the album '' The Nightfly'', which was nominated for seven Grammy Awards.
