Smilja Tišma
Smilja I. Tišma ( sr-Cyrl, Смиља И. Тишма; born circa 1929) is a retired Serbian politician who served in the Serbian national assembly from 2020 to 2022. She was elected on the list of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), but she is not a member of any party. Tišma was a child prisoner in the fascist Independent State of Croatia during World War II. She survived the concentration camp system and has shared her account of the war years through a series of oral history interviews. Early years and childhood during World War II Tišma was born to an ethnic Serb family in the village of Zrinska in western Slavonia and raised in the community. At the time, the village was located in the Sava Banovina of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia; it is part of Croatia today. Official documents say that she was born on 9 June 1929, although she discovered in the post-World War II period that neither the year nor the date is accurate. The National Assembly ( sr-Cyrl-Latn, Народна скупштина, Narodna skupština, ), fully the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia (), is the unicameral legislature of Serbia. The assembly is composed of 250 deputies who are proportionally elected to four-year terms by secret ballot. The assembly elects a president (speaker) who presides over the sessions.
