Skanderborg Municipality
Skanderborg Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark, just southwest of Aarhus. It covers an area of 462.45 km2, with a population of 65,760 (1. January 2025). Its mayor as of 1 April 2019 is Frands Fischer, representing the ''Social Democrats'' political party. Skanderborg is the municipality's main town, and serves as the seat of the municipal council. On 1 January 2007 Skanderborg municipality was, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with Galten, Ry, and Hørning municipalities, along with Voerladegård Parish from Brædstrup municipality, to form the present, expanded "Skanderborg Municipality". The former municipality covered an area of 143.22 km2, and had a population of 21,745 (2003). Horsens Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish: '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. Yding Skovhøj in Horsens municipality, Jutland is one of Denmark's highest points. Himmelbjerget
Himmelbjerget ("The Sky Mountain" or "The Mountain of Heaven") is a hill located between Ry and Silkeborg, Denmark in the area known as Søhøjlandet. With an elevation of 147 m (482 ft), Himmelbjerget is one of the highest natural points in the Danish landscape. The hill and surrounding area has been a centre for various gatherings and celebrations for more than 200 years and in 1875, a red brick tower was erected at the top. Height and prominence Himmelbjerget was believed to be the highest natural point in Denmark until 1847, when Ejer Bavnehøj was measured as the highest point. Ejer Bavnehøj
Ejer Bavnehøj (also spelled Ejer Baunehøj) is the third-highest natural point in Denmark, at above sea level. Geography Ejer Bavnehøj lies in the southern part of Skanderborg municipality, between the villages of Riis and Ejer. At its summit is a tall tower, built in 1924, commemorating the reunion of the south of Jutland with the rest of Denmark after the First World War. Close to Ejer Bavnehøj lies Yding Skovhøj, another high point, with a height of above sea level but this includes a human built Bronze Age burial mound. Without the Bronze Age mound Yding Skovhøj is a little lower than Denmark's highest non-man-made point, Møllehøj, which is high, higher than Ejer Bavnehøj. Møllehøj () is the highest natural point in Metropolitan Denmark at .For comparison, the tallest man-made structure in Denmark is the Tommerup Transmitter, which stands 321 m, or 1045 ft, high. East Jutland Metropolitan Area
East Jutland metropolitan area () is a potential metropolitan area in Jutland and Funen, Denmark. Aarhus is the most populated city in the region. The National Planning Report of 2006, published by the Danish Environment Ministry, argued that "East Jutland is developing into a coherent area with high population growth and division of labour between the cities in the urban band that extends from Kolding to Randers" and foresaw "the contours of a future million-city". The report recommended dialogue about future development between the state, the region and the municipalities.
