Sjónvarp Símans
Sjónvarp Símans (), formerly SkjárEinn (ScreenOne), is an Icelandic television channel owned by Síminn. Sjónvarp Símans broadcasts both Icelandic and foreign television shows. Since its foundation in 1999 it has aired crime, drama, reality and comedy television series. It is distributed by analogue over-the-air broadcast signal and also digitally via Síminn and Vodafone IPTV and Vodafone Digital Ísland. Sjónvarp Símans used to be free to anyone living in Iceland but switched to a premium subscription channel in 2009. In 2015, after Skipti, the former parent company of Síminn and Skjárinn, merged with Síminn, the channel switched to a mixed subscription model. Watching the linear broadcast is free but a subscription option called Sjónvarp Símans Premium offers more content then the linear broadcast, such as a library of old shows and series, shows what have not been aired in the linear broadcast, movies and more. ''Sigtið'' is an Icelandic comedy television show. The show is filmed in a mockumentary style showing the self-centered television show host Frímann Gunnarsson. Gunnarsson fails completely at running the show, despite his belief that it is the greatest television show ever made in Iceland. His idols are the world-renowned Joseph Blunden and Margaret Thatcher. Gunnar Hansson plays the leading role of Frímann Gunnarsson along with several smaller parts. Silvía Night
Silvía Night ( ) is a fictional, satirical character on (''The Silvia Night Show''), an Icelandic comedy show of the television channel Skjár einn. The character was invented by Gaukur Úlfarsson and Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir; the latter plays Silvía Night. Silvía Night interviews people in real-life situations. Before the show made its début on TV, and when Silvía was still unknown, she used to upset the people she interviewed dramatically with her outrageous behaviour. Silvía Night was Iceland's participant in the Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Her antics, both onstage and offstage, created controversy and garnered international media attention. Ríkisútvarpið (, ; abbr. RÚV ) is Iceland's national public-service broadcasting organization. Founded in 1930, it operates from studios in the country's capital, Reykjavík, as well as regional centres around the country. RÚV operates an online news service, which is the fourth most visited website in Iceland. In 2016, 88% of Icelanders consumed RÚV content every week. Stöð 2, literally Station 2, was an Icelandic subscription television channel. Founded in 1986, it was the first privately owned television station in Iceland following the lifting of the state monopoly on television broadcasting. Sister channels under the Stöð 2 name include Stöð 2 Sport and Stöð 2 Bíó. Stöð 2 was the second-oldest private television station in the Nordic countries, after MTV3 in Finland.
