Sixtoo
Sixtoo was the main project of Canadian underground hip hop DJ, producer and rapper Vaughn Robert Squire between 1996 and 2007. He has since retired the Sixtoo name, and is pursuing other directions in electronic music, with a large genre shift from experimental hip hop to deeper club sounds of various tempos. He has also released music as Speakerbruiser Rob, and Prison Garde. History Sixtoo rose to prominence in the mid-1990s underground hip hop scene, initially as half of Halifax, Nova Scotia hip hop duo Sebutones, along with Buck 65. During that time, he worked with Sage Francis, Moka Only, Mr. Dibbs and other members of Anticon. In 2000, Sixtoo moved to Montreal where he signed on with UK-based record label Vertical Form. Soon after came the release of ''Antagonist Survival Kit'', a synth-based sample album that showcased both sides of his skills: on the mic and on the sampler. In 2003, Sixtoo signed to Ninja Tune. Chewing On Glass & Other Miracle Cures
''Chewing on Glass & Other Miracle Cures'' is a studio album by Canadian hip hop artist Sixtoo. It was released on Ninja Tune in 2004. It peaked at number 65 on the CMJ Top 200 chart. Damo Suzuki provided vocals on "Storm Clouds & Silver Linings". Critical reception John Bush of AllMusic gave the album 3 stars out of 5, saying, "Sixtoo's productions are dripping with atmosphere, and he possesses the fiending of a soundtracker for sounds that listeners haven't heard before but can immediately associate with a feeling -- and that feeling is usually a delicious sense of dread." Bully Records
Bully Records was an independent record label founded in 2002 in Montreal. It is maintained, funded, and run by Marc-Olivier Boileau (Marco). The label first released mostly 7-inch singles and EPs, but has since expanded to release CDs, box sets, and DVDs. Most of Bully's lineup consists mainly of hip hop producers. They have since branched out and released the work of instrumentalists from many different genres. One example of their projects is ''Obsession'', a compilation of rare psychedelic music from countries such as Peru, Turkey, India, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. Maid Of Gold
''Maid of Gold'' is the only studio album by Villain Accelerate, a Canadian hip hop production duo consisting of Sixtoo and Stigg of the Dump. It was released on Mush Records on August 12, 2003. Critical reception Jason MacNeil of AllMusic gave the album 3 stars out of 5, writing, "This album is a bizarre and challenging blend of effects, styles, and eerie feel that seeps into the listener early on." Buck 65
Richard Terfry (born March 4, 1972), better known by his stage name Buck 65, is a Canadian alternative hip hop artist. Underpinned by an extensive background in abstract hip hop, his more recent music has extensively incorporated blues, country music, country, rock music, rock, folk music, folk and avant-garde influences. Terfry is also a radio host, hosting the weekday ''Drive (CBC Music), Drive'' show on CBC Music since September 2, 2008. Matth
Matt Chang, also known by his stage name Bay Blue, is an underground hip hop producer based in Oakland, California. He has collaborated with Sole, Pedestrian and Sixtoo under the alias Matth. History From 2005, Matt Chang spent seven years making four albums' worth of tracks for his debut album. Earmilk premiered the track "Don't Clap on the One and the Three" in October 2012. Chang released the self-titled debut album, ''Bay Blue'', under his Bay Blue moniker on Anticon in November 2012. Daniel Denton (born November 14, 1973), better known by his stage name Moka Only, is a Canadian underground hip hop artist. He has won 3 JUNO Awards, 5 MuchMusic Video Awards, and has been nominated for 11 Western Canadian Music Awards. Originally from Langford, British Columbia, near Victoria, he is now based in Vancouver. He was previously part of the hip hop group Swollen Members, and briefly a part of Len. Moka has released albums through Feelin' Music, Legendary Entertainment, Battleaxe Records, Domination Recordings, Camobear Records, Wandering Worx and URBNET Records. Moka Only often works with different hip-hop artists and groups, and often works under his alias Ron Contour. Isaiah Toothtaker (born 1981) is an American rapper, designer, and tattoo artist. He is a co-founder of the indie hip hop collective Machina Muerte. Biography Toothtaker is of Mexican and Native American heritage, who grew up in Tucson, Arizona. He was homeless since age 11 and his stage name echoes getting into fistfights. Wolf Parade
Wolf Parade is a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2003 in Montreal. The band released three full-length albums before taking a five-year hiatus in 2011. They announced their return in 2016, releasing a self-titled EP in May of that year, and a fourth studio album, '' Cry Cry Cry'', in October 2017. Anticon (often styled as anticon.) is an independent record label based in Los Angeles, California. It was founded in 1998 by seven musicians and manager Baillie Parker.
